some pics of the last trackday ....

http://www.bunker.co.za/e107_plugins/au ... May%202009

The day will run along the same lines as all the past Bunker Trackdays with 5 classes (max 10 per class) ranging from twin turbo full blown roll caged beasts in A class, to 1400i golf's in E Class ……and no I wont put you novice drivers out in A Class .I want to encourage the novice to come and try out their cars out on a track, trust me it’s the best fun you can have with your clothes on!!!!....We will have instructors on hand to help everyone with the track lines, braking markers etc. ……So don’t be intimidated!!! The track has had all the grass cut and all run off areas cleared ,the track will be brushed the day before(by tractor!!)

I have to make it pre day booking only as I wont have the time to take cash in on the day and the less cash around the less chance of trouble. The entry form is attached so fill in and send it off and I’ll email/fax you the indemnity forms to fill out. If we can get all the paper work out of the way before the day the sooner we can all get on the track and the more time you will have out on it.

Format will be 6am sms to all drivers if the day will be cancelled due to rain in PMB,if it rains the trackday will move to the 18th July, if you don’t get the sms then the day is on. Drivers to be there 7h30ish for pit allocation, drivers briefing and scruitineering. A Class out at 9am followed by B,C,D,E repeatedly until lunch 12ish. Lunch will be bring your own meat etc I will supply the charcoal and braai. Track sessions will resume 1ish.R300 a driver for the whole day.
Spectators free entry.

Morning Everyone ………

The Bunker Racing trackday for this Saturday unfortunately has been postponed

I’ am rather bleak to announce this as every Bunker event I have organized in last couple of years has always gone underway and turned out to be a great success …so this is completely new territory to me. I have phoned all the competitors already and explained the following …

I got a phone call from the owners and directors of Hesketh and unfortunately the upgrades to the track will not be completed by Saturday 11th …leaving the track in a unsafe state for both competitors and spectators alike. As with the nature of a trackday I cannot take a chance with safety as I’ am sure you would not either.

What has been happening is that due to the extremely limiting space for both competitors and spectators at the hairpin. We decided to move the whole lot to the infield of the track. This posed a few hurdles of moving Armco barriers etc(this is what has not yet been finished) .But Hesketh management went a bit further and have embraced all of my suggestions . They have already started construction of a roofed lapa with patio ,toilets and a raised viewing deck on the infield of the “old Maritzburg straight”. When all this is finished will give us a massive pit area, easier track access, spectacular views of 90% of the track, decent brick toilets for our better half’s and overall better venue for your trackdays. This said the management of Hesketh have proposed that lets rather postpone all activities on Hesketh till the upgrades are complete.

Ok the good news …..the next Bunker Racing trackday will be on the 5th September at the new and improved Roy Hesketh track.

From what I have gather from phoning the drivers is that most are happy to leave their space booked for the next one ,but if this date does not suit you or for any other reasons please mail me back your banking details and I will refund your monies.

If you like me are amped and ready to gooi your car around a track and cant possible wait till 5th September….there are a few other events happening….

Firstly Paul Riley is organizing a day at Phakisa. Welkom on Friday 17th July .Phakisa must be my favorite track in SA trust me you will love it !!!!The cost is R750 which includes transponder and a full day at the track …when I mean full day there is no classing etc you just go out when ever for as long as you want ….so if you got enough fuel you can stay out all day !!!! Wahooooooo……I just got to swop a few things around with my wife and my golof should be there…………..
please contact Paul direct on 082 667 0206

Secondly, the Natal BMW car club are hosting another of their awesome Autocross events at Suncoast next Sunday the 19th of July. I did the last one and it’s a real blast. The new configuration of the new big parking lot means that two cars can run head to head on alternative courses ….making it spectacular to watch and insane to drive……this is open to all types of cars not just BMW’s and this said the hot hatch class is relatively small …so let’s dust off the golf opels toyots renos mini etc and go and give them stick …I will be entering both the golof and my gay hairdresser Haudi for this. Please contact Watto to enter on watto@derrick.co.za as I have lost his number somehow ??? Watto pls send me your number !!!

Yours in racing

also .. i paid R850 to Paul for Phakisa .. not R750 ?
