got another RB20 turbo motor for cheap but its minus injectors, turbo BUT it has a slight bearing knock( crank needs to be polished and a new set of bearings) it looks wors than the R33 bearing knock i had on my rb25 motor, the pistons on the other hand look nakered.SO my question to you guys is what pistons to use besides wiseco and the expesive stuff ,since this is the 20litre 6cylinder can the sr20 pistons be used? I just want the motor runing on th echeap side to move the vehiclearound while all the other mods are being done.the total motor rebuild will come later any ideas guys?

the sr20 is a 2 litre yes, BUT it has 4 cylinders... the RB20 is a 6 cylinder 2.0l, therefore the pistons are smaller, and i dont think you can bore out the rb20 big enough to accept the sr20 pistons!!!

ok thanks but what pistons could i use, only one is sort of looking a bit K@K....
RB20DET Twin cam
Bore & Stroke 78 X 69.7
Capacity 1998
Power 210ps @5600
Compression 8.5 to 1
what would have the same bore?

Hi, rebuilt many motors but no expert. if I was you I would get the spec of your rb 20 piston and google a piston manufacturer and see what pistons for other motors are the same/ or very similar. remember that there are pistons that have the same physical size but can have different pin sizes, pin to crown dimensions (top of piston) to name a few variables.

I think ill google like the antman sugested,or try masterparts, maye ill get lucky, thanks guys i have tons of vg 30 pistons,i have had a few hardbodys and twice as many vg30 engines heheheh, the yards starting to look like i have a tow truck business.hahaha
Another part i seek is the module ( for timing) attached to the front of one of the cam pullys, any one has one here in kaapstad? will this unit be the same for all rb engine?

You don't perhaps have the intake manifolds plust the top feed injectpr rails for the VG30...?

yep i do,its not a turbo motor.I have from the import motor wich is the larger in diameter than the backies injectors base.can these work for an rb motor?

Sorry, I don't know....it was a bit off topic, I asked because I was looking for another intake manifold with top feed fuel rail so I could convert to top feed....

not to worry,i dont mind going off the topic, if im lerning something new. so you want to convert a rb25 or vg30 det to a top fed? i do have a mani but im using it when my vanderlider vg30 is done those are hard to find .

I have a VG30ET motor with a Maxima intake manifold, it uses the phase one side feed fuel injector rail, because of the intake or top manifold being so lo I have to change to the normal VG30 intake to make use of top feed injectors....

I am not sure but I think the old R31 2L skyline here in SA ran the RB20, have you checked your local midas and autozone, they normally have high and low compression pistons....

yeah you get both types of skylines, although i dont know if the rb ones were released here!
either a 4 cyl 2.0l, or a 6 cyl 2.0l???
easy to make the choice i'd say!
