I am planing on doing one just what! Modding my CA any more is going to make it very stressed and it is going to break so looking for something with good power at a stock to mildly modded form.
Have been thinking of a RB25 for a long time just it is going to cost abit
i see there is a 2JZ for sale in durban at a good price but that is going to be a hell of a mission to install
SR20 is a much cheaper option but not going to make the same power as a I6
So any one got any advise, hoping for some input from people that have done the rb25/2jz swaps

Stressed?
Speclist:
- engine rebuild with:
- new oilpump
- Enlarged sump with baffle system
- Adjustable cam gears
- Stock pistons with fresh rings
- ported and resufaced head comp about 8,7:1
- polished valves
- replaced the intake cam by a stock ca18det exhaust cam
- GT28R with ceramic coated turbine (1,2 BAR)
- VMIC setup
- 550cc HKS injectors
- NISTUNE just under 8000rpm rev limit (7960)
- throttle shaft flattend
- RB25 MAF
- HKS mushroom
- stainless exh manifold
- Custom elbow / downpipe
- 2,5" catback
- Lightend flywheel with paddle clutch
This gave 326HP and 388 Nm with a drivetrain loss of 40HP (measured by the dyno)
Been running like that for almost a year now, Got more example where that came from , That I would say is stressed

PFB I think you are missing the point. To rebuild a CA18 like that is going to cost R15 000?? He can buy a RB25 with box for that price, which in stock form will make 200RwKw. a few bolt ons and that will be up at 250RwKw, remember the added torque aswell.
To build a CA18 to make 250RwKw reliably will be VERY expensive. SR20 is cheaper yes but to get 250RwKw you will need to rebuild it with forged goodies which is again VERY expensive. A RB25 will make 250RwKw faily easily with a few bolt on.
Bang for buck is what he is looking for.

I agree 110% but his first thought was to go with RB. and the sound of that inline 6 is insane!

Std RB25DET + Stainless turbo manifold + T61 turbo + 50mm ext wastegate.
Good for easy 250kw, over 400nm. (std 370cc injectors). Cost:
RB25 + G/box - R15000
Manifold - R2600
Turbo - R5000
W/gate - R1800
Total: R24400

and cost to put it in?
read up that you can use the std mounts and just have to get a cross member and mod the bonnet or make custom mounts so it sits lower and back so the added kg are not right at the front. is this right?

Custom Prop?
Custom Mounts?
Radiator Upgrade?
Tuning?

I was at some point thinking of the RB conversion vs the SR20 and I was listening to Bruno saying that an RB conversion can be done for around R40 000.......lots of zeros there. R24 000 for the major hardware items and as Sokar said lots of other bits and pieces which push the price up.
Will the man who dunnit stand up and tell the people the REAL price of a RB25(std) conversion cost doing all the work yourself......... pleeeese and thankyou.

Guys, for a RB motor its gonna set you back easy R60 000 by cutting corners otherwise budget R80 000 - R90 000 for a solid install.....
The motor would probably need a rebuild as well.....
And I think Brakes need upgrading as well, the stock 1 piston wont do.
Bang for buck, I think SR20
I think Propshaft is missing from that Groceries list, Labour...But this is my personal opinion. 2c
