Boost Problem

My sx is acting strange. Every now and then ( maybe once every 2 weeks or so) when im driving it hard or just cruising it, then it stops boosting for a bit. It doesnt rev past 2500 - 3000rpm. After a few minutes or so then it will boost properly again and carry on driving well afterwards for days.
Why is this doing it?

not to alarm you... but mine started to do that when I blew my turbo...

My previous sx did the same thing just before my turbo blew. However it was smoking. I got no smoke and it still pulls very strong. Only every now and again it happens...
So the weekend im going to check the plugs firstly then coils afterwards to see if i can find the problem. However i have read in some other previous post that it might even be the fuelpump.
Will give feedback if i found the fault

Sounds like it's going into limp mode, maybe? And it would do that if some criticl sensors were faulty / intermittent, like the knock sensor. Try reading error codes from the ECU.

I agree with toby, but mine was also still pulling strong with no smoke and then nothing...

check it out, maybe something similar to my prob. I still don't know if it's sorted yet cos i'm waiting for a new IC before the Dicktator gets tuned. don't wana push the car too hard cos its untuned for now but running a basic map

Reece who did u get ur dictator from? Who is tuning and setting it up for u? And if possible what price range?

Got my Tator brand new from Speed Shop, paid R3000 for it with the cam wheel. Gary installed for me. still moving around with a basic map tho, so i can't put foot until i get new intercooler installed. R u getting one?

Yeah i am. but not now. First need to do pipe etc. before i get to the management. But i have started getting quotes so far. Speedshop said they can do dictator for me for R5000. Thats the unit, installation, tuning and dyno run.

Reece im going to go 76mm exhaust, T28/T3 Turbo. Dictator Management, FMIC and all the other stuff with the sx. Im building it with a budget in mind so it might take the whole year till its done, but i know it will be worth it and it will run strong.

U should save up and put a Garrett T28 or a GT28, or maybe a mistubishi turbo, check out trance101 setup, his cabbie boosts verrrry early. I'm going T3/T4, aiming that mod for around May/June, sorting out intercooler+piping, then tuning, buy a set of 15z with tyres and become a bad ass dorifto for now

When does ryan's turbo start spooling and when does it boost? at which rpm ranges?

2500 is good. Are u sure it pulls strong till redline? Cause usually when it boosts to early it doesnt run strong top end? Yeah he has got a nice setup there.
