Oil pressure gauge woes

Hi All

My oil pressure gauge was working, suddenly its not... Its not a wiring issue, here is what it does...

My oil gauge got 4 wires (Trisco type)

Lights
+12V
Sensor
Ground

Now when I connect +12V and Ground the Oil Pressure goes up to 7bar -- Correct...
When you ground the Sensor wire is the gauge suppose to read 0 as far as I'm aware... Mine doesn't it jumps to 0 and hops around then goes to 7bar...

See I connected it up, worked fine and suddenly it just kept reading 7bar all the time, no matter what.

Is the gauge fooked?

If it hops around then goes to where it should, the gauge is fooked.

Thats what I thought... :x

It just happened, worked fine, we fiddled with the oil cooler - it was leaking and then when I wanted to check the oil leak again I saw the gauge at 7 bar... hasn't come down... Disconnected it and all it does now is show 7 bar...

yup it fooked. the sending unit isn't working. it happens if the sender gets a live to it by accident or urs is just old. the unit gives resistance to the circuit which it isn't doing at the moment. tadaaaa
