Got hold of a compression tester, so I'll test that soon...

Maybe hay, just try the cheap stuff before you take the head off.
I tried the sleepy eye thing today, cut the brown wire, but then my lights didn't wanna come up anymore like they're supposed to

Ha ha yeah I know of people cutting the brown wire. I dont like cutting things, so thats not the way I do mine. And anyway when you cut the wire it opens the lights halfway. I dont want mine halfway so I do it manually!

Very easy. You open your(hot in your case) bonnet, then you will see two brown knobs. Then you turn those knobs till you get the right height you want them, and voila there you go.(but every time you switch on your lights it will reset back to the old position.)
