Best oil to use in a CA, SR and RB which is easily available in SA is the Castrol softech, its not to expencive, its design for turbo charged vehicles and works VERY Well with nissan lifters, after using all the top oils I have come to the conclusion the softech is the best,

I also have K&N oil filters for all SR20's and RB's in stock,

Try only use Redline trans and gear oil, it is by far the best, if i remember right my packaging for trans and diff oil is about R850

Using Castrol Edge Sport 10w60 in my SR, change every 5 000km. No oil usage between services.

Steer clear of edge ESPECIALY us turbo guys, in every Nissan hard street to track car ive ever used it in ive had non stop problems with it foaming and making the lifters drop after heating it up after 5-10 minutes on the track.

On paper it sounds brilliant, in real life application when pushing it to the "edge" it fails terribly, infact my R50 /5L break in oil has less foaming when seating the rings.

Softec is basicaly edge with a bunch of anit foaming stuff and other adtitional additives that help with the heat turbo's generate.

Pick a good brand name.
Buy their top of the line 10 to 20w50 or 60 oil and change it often. Steer far away from the 0w30 or 10w40 stuff especially for turbo cars.

We have pretty unique conditions here its hot and dusty and we drive harder over longer distances than probably any other country in the world so forget what ever your UK and USA buds are using.

Castrol Magnatec, brilliant oil had no problems what so ever.

I use Mobil one . Never heard of Castrol Soft-tech.

But I will keep an eye out for the stuff

Magnatec tends to varnish the turbo's shaft and bearings up pretty fast because it is not design to be used with turbo charged motors or to deal with the heat inside the turbo.

Also using magnatec, but im really starting to wonder now. was recomended by kempton automotive.. (Mike)

I used magnatec and it varnished my system F*ck#ed up.
Mobil 1 to me is to thin,

When I first bought the car I was turbo dumb used mineral oil... Lets just say 2 turbo's and I learned my lesson.

1st Engine
Used Shell Fully Syn (Grey Bottle) R350 a pop... Very good never had any problems just expensive

2nd Engine
Castrol Edge (Non Sport)... Good, didn't have problems with foaming, but then again the car didn't work that much.

As mentioned in a previous post. Mobil 1 used by Porsche in Randburg.
wouldn't use magnatec even if it was given to me for free. it's semi synthetic, not fully & yes, seen a motor opened up that used magnatec, leaves a brownish substance on the metal, however that stuff might help with cold starts, but once she starts to warm up, especially when it passes thro the turbo, it's losses lots of it's lubrication properties becuase of the heat.

The regular edge isnt so bad, I used it on one of my SR20's, on the street it was fine, no problems, but as soon as i punished the motor a little and picked the oil temp up a bit it would let the lifters down and the motor would run like poo.

Castrol softec as i recomended earlier is used near all the turbo VW's, turbo audi's, volvo's and so on, they even use it now for the Porshe's and other high end turbo cars because castrol RS which is their recomended oil is a bit thin in this country for our hot climate and is VERY hard to find.

I am using Shell Helix Ultra(blue bottle) it's okay
but I am on the lookout for sumthin much better.

I can't find this Castrol Softec?,and what price does it usually go for?

The shell in the blue bottle is also Semi-Synthetic. If you're going to use shell, use the fully synthetic from the grey bottle.

This oil topic ending up the same as the previous post, more than one piece of advice and no line through. Confusing yes. Stuff that, I decided on Mobil 1, and I still dont know why. Oil never bothered me, just make sure the sx got some oil and change oil regulary. I know you all mean well, but for now I stay with Mobil 1
