hey guys i've been thinking bout fitting a oil catch tank but first i wanna know has anyone here done it if you have please post some pics so i can see how to fit it correctly secondly what are the benefits off fitting a oil catch tank thanks guys

the SR20 comes stock with a catch tank.

a good tank will take most of the oil out of the crank case vapours before they go back into the engine.

so you dont get oil burning in your combustion chambers.

Is there any effective way of blumbing the breather pipes on the CA without a catch tank?? I cant connect the one pipe to the turbo intake, what else can I do??

You an can Garry but, its not recommended... been doing it with VW for years...

Put a beather on the plenum inlet... direct that breather pipe down to the road... I won't do this, though

not really the air breathed from the crankcase contains oil, you need to trap that someway or the other... you can put in a filter, but some point of time you'll need to clean it... you can add a water trap like mechanism like they use on spray guns...

I have a breather filter on the exhaust side tappet cover and the pipe that goes across the coil pack cover connects to the horizontal pipe on the exhaust side. Now the breather filter makes a nice mess of the firewall with dirty oil fumes, but this has only started happening since I fitted these "new" pipes.

so has nobody fitted one and casn not one sx guru help me out here

I fitted one. Its a square type bottle with 3 outlets. Put the rear tappet cover breather on top, next to a breather filter, and the sump breather on the bottom outlet. Used it on one trackday, and seems to work fine.
Its the shiny bit in the left front corner.

ive got the same one but mine is red it should only have 2 outlets the 3rd one you got at the bottem is so that you can mount the veiw pipe differently



this is how i set it up (ca18det) i took the pipe that returned to my air intake off and connected it to one of the inlets on the oil tank then the other to the tappet cover (but it seemed to loose power and become slugish)

so my theory is that with all the increased piping that there more air gettin sucked into my intake after my afm cousing the fuel/air mixture to be wrong please correct me if im wrong

what i want to do is block the nipple that is on my air intake and thaen run pipes from one inlet of the oil tank and the other to a mini filter (is this good idea or what)
