i just thought of something huge...
1. i have a new motor with 0km's on it.
2. i have a brand new management system with it - also 0km's!
3. i dont have a map for the motor, not even a startup map.
so my question is:
how the crap am i going to get this motor started and running, and then how am i going to get it run in properly???

find some std maps and tune off that just to get it to a place that can dyno it for you

Call Gotech and ask them for a base map.
You are going to KAK to start it anyway. Prob put my number on speed dial

do you know anyone that has worked on a management system?
like gary did with mine, bottem end of the map right, do your run in, you not going to go over 4000rpm anyway

He's decided on the motoman breakin, not the easy breakin....

a few posts back i bitched about the kak service today from gotech.
well, i guess you have to give everyone a chance hey. checked my email now, and it seems they replied to my message just after i left work!
louis sent a map for the sr20det, and said the v5 map he sent will work on the v6. nice! again - thanks gotech.
still i wonder if its ok to run an engine in on a base map???

i dont see why not, unless you under/overfueling badly, or timing way out
a big problem

Hey VeeCee, had a similar problem last week with Gotech, had version 3 on my box which went faulty and had to go back twice as the box did not work at all, ended up that the D/A chip was shot. They put version 6 on the box and I used a base map version 5 which they reccommended. I am no expert and no doubt there are experts on this forum but here is my contribution to the issue.
The base map did not really work as the motor fired but did not want to run for any length of time so had to tweak it alot just to get the motor to run.
Before cranking the motor first check the timing is not too advanced (I retarded base map timing to about 8 degrees in all ranges). Ypu can always advance the timing a degree at a time as the motor is running. Check that all the settings in the config screen F5 is set up for your motor ie the ignition Internal/External settings ect.(very important)
Try to start the motor and as soon as the motor starts and is running set the F6 screen which is your auto choke set up.Reduce the values as the engine temp vertical bar moves to the left and reduce the values to zero at about 30 deg celcius as this extra fuel can bugger you around when adjusting fuel when the motor is warm. dont try to rev the motor as it probably wont rev too well, rather wait for the motor to get to normal operating temp and them play with the fueling and timing by tweaking the base values bit by bit as they should not be too far out. do Dont do fuel and timing changes at the same time as you will not know which caused the improvement or not.
My plan was to get the motor to run and drive off boost and get some mileage on the motor before the dyno.
