I wired my gauges so they only light up when i turn the car's lights on.

They were previously wired to the wipers so every time the did a cycle the gauge light would flash... this was higly annoying

Beware! Aukward working under the dash.
Instructions: Step 1: Stick feet out sunroof
Step 2: Put pillow on pedals
Step 3: If you have access to a massage system, use
this to get excess blood flowing away from the head

On my S14 I connected the 4 aftermarket guages to the reostat, now it works in reverse. If you dim the dash, the gauges go brighter and vise versa... Anybody :?:

I have heard it all now. Cant be better. Wiper connection. I think Dere also has done that one. Dimm working in reverse?      :D :D

Ok, johan, the potentiometer should have three wires??? Well that is how i know them. Possible you connected it to the wrong leg. Three pins normally. I dont know the sx's. Charl should know by now. But you change your connection to the other outer pin. Not middle. So either left or right from the middle pin. DO YOU CATCH MY DRIFT?

It can also be two pins of pot joined. Then you trial and error only this one or the other one. Toby, how do we draw on this forum

Thanks Freddie will try... Earlier tonight I crimped a new longer wire for the G-force meter and rerouted it behind the dash. Found a nice thick red wire, tested with multi tester for ignition on everything.... started the car tested everything ok. When I parked the car in the garage, I noticed the the G-force on works when in Park or Neutral...... BITCH!!!! :x So tomorrow night I will fix that and the reostat.... no parking off in front of the TV then. Damm, I hate it when my life is planned.

oooops

I tried mine with the lights, worked when put on but as soon as I go to brights it went off :x , then I found another wire, looked fine, tested good, then found when I was driving and putting on my indicators my guage indicated as well  :x , then after checcking with Freddy I got a wire that goes on when ignition is on and off when it is off, this works for me and that is it :!: :P no more changes or wire searches...i'm done with this onderstebo crap

i would put it on park and not lights - maybe im talking kak here
anyway, the gauges indicating with the indicators might be an indication that your battery is flat(tish) - lights in gauges might have lower resistance than dash lights (lots of dash lights), so they get more affected by changes in voltage - just a thought

maybe also the reason for the inverted dimming

Widowmaker you are dronk china.... :P the guege indicated because, for your indicater to work it goes through a relay witch goes on and off, hence any guages connected to it flickers as the indicators does.

sure, but if you connect it to the flicker relay (or the bloody wipers for that matter) what do you expect? Like, why not connect it to the brake lights and wonder why they only light up when you slow down...

uhhm

its like the guy who prayed every day to win the lotto, and when he died a poor man he asked God why he never won. God replied "well throw me a freaking bone ekse - YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A TICKET!!!"

Fit a new bracket for the AM gauges last night.... this morning my fuel pressure moves between 2.5 and 4 bar at high revs/boost  It used to be steady at 2.4 bar  :?: :?: :?:

man what's up with this electrical system???
we can't be that dumb! I'm to scared to touch something now. I'm afraid if I put another gauge in, the car will go backwards when I put it in second :?
