ICE with a twist
Hey Vlade, that is awsome dude i actualy have been considering this route but there was more cons than pros they i wanted to do.
I wanted to use a mini PC(which is on the expencive side) from any computer retailer, and buy an 12V-->220V adapter from and electornic shop and use bluetooth for the interface, problem was on how to connect to the indash screen in the front.
I would have to by a VGA card with RCA video outputs, and the other probrem was on how to integrate it with the in car sound system.
It got a bit too much and i gave up.
But your way seems very vaible specialy the price is tempting.
Does it includ the touch screen or is just the pc?
Great ICE man.

I tried that exact route, the problem is with that is when you go from RCA to VGA your "TV" type screen has a very shitty resolution of 320 by ?X? now you try to compress 800x600 resolution in there and you end up with huge quality loss and you can't read the text even if you increase the font size on the PC it still looks crap... on the other end your screen isn't touch so how do you interface with the PC?
the 12V-->220V converters also don't work well, they eat battery power like nothing and often your PC will reboot when you try to start the car, then dies soon after you kill the ignition.
I can get foldaway screens that fit in a DIN unit... will find out a price.

Car PC
Hey Vlade,
What you've explained is exactly what i had to consider before i went & blew my money on all the goodies, to avoid the PC from rebooting the all time i thought of an UPS(more costs) and maybe just connect the PC to the batt directly but it was just not gonna work propperly. Plus home PC's don't like vibration or bumpy roads, just my sound would have blown the hdd to pieces. I'm glad i didn't go through it at all.(just tells that planning before building is still the safest thing to do).
Tell me something, the price that you mentioned is it for what you have installed in your car? Includes PC, monitor, Power DC converter etc..etc?
Can you post more pics of the system?
