So my ca has just gone over 300k kms (original motor) and although she still eats G5's for breakfast I think a rebuild is in order.
Don't wanna upgrade anything like rods, pistons or anything, just want to refresh the old girl.
How much will a std rebuild cost me parts & engineering wise?

nissan full rebuild gasket kit is now over 2500-00.
then you need bearings, and rings too at the very least. also fairly expensive for genuine nissan parts...
hang on. that new dude from cape town, who works for nissan, posted parts prices around here somewhere a while back.

Engine Overhaul Gasket Set - R 1997-66
Set of Rings - R 857-35
Main Bearing Set - R 575-30
Big End Bearing Set - R 391-11
Pistons - R 609-39
Valves Intake - R 1665-40
Valves Exhaust - R 2713-25
Valve Springs - R 1643-25
Valve Guides Exhaust - R 2303-15
Valve Guides Intake - R 2186.60
Oil Pump - R 1963-45
Water Pump - R 2683-81
This is already expensive but if you wanna do a proper job you're probably gonna have to do Cambelt and Sprockets etc.
This is just to give you a background so you know you don't have to pay more than this for your parts
Lemme know if you need anything else

Look, al I'm saying is that these parts are so overpriced! For ten grand I can go and buy myself a set of Carillo Rods and Wiseco pistons!

Yeah it is very expensive and that's with a 10 % discount.
