Des revs his motors...

At the South Coast Motor Show, to be held at Margate Airport on 17 and 18 May, Des Gutzeit will have four of his cars on view. One of them is the Skyline GTR that was built in Japan by Top Secret , specifically for circuit racing. Top Secret is one of the best tuners in the world for Skyline. This car has 1000hp and is fitted with a sequential gear box. Des's son Jade won the King of the Mountain race in Ceres in November with this car.
The other cars that des will have on show include the Chev UTE; BMW M3 racing car and the Westbank V8. Watch this space for more information on these and other vehicles in the next few weeks.

That is out of the local newspaper here.

Sounds interesting. Do you know if there will be any motorsport events along with the car show? or is it just a show car type event?

North Coast - up from durban, rich people
South Coast - below durban, poor people like me

I found this in an old email newsletter that i must have not read properly:
Thirdly we got Racing at Phakisa on the 17th as well as the Speed festival in Margate which will a huge jol ..BMW Club

have been asked to help host an event down in Margate on

the weekend of the 17th & 18th May 08.

I know that it is relatively short notice, but hey we have so little

opportunity to have an event like this we jumped at the chance and are going

ahead with it.

The short version is that there will be a giant autocross and a top speed

dash where ONLY speed will be measured over 400 and 800 metres.

You have to take part in the Autocross and the High speed dash sponsored by

Dezzi Equipment - then a voluntary drifting competition where the winners

will be judged by crowd applause.

We have been given use of the Margate Airport for the duration of the event

and if this event is successful, we have been told that we will be able to

use it again and more importantly, they will ask us back to organise similar

events for the speed weekends for 2009 and 2010.

Entries are limited, so you better get your entry forms in chop, chop.

If you have any queries, call me on 0824420969.
Sounds like quite a lot of fun. I'm keen.

Ya I'm sure we could enter. I'd like to enter but I will be running my sx in coz the engine got rebuilt. To get entry forms you can pone that guy on the number above or mail him at robprece [at] telkomsa.net.

Its the guys from bunker racing that are organizing the event.

It'd be nice to make an event out of this.
