Ok so I was assembling Trance101's engine this weekend and saw on the exhaust side of the head the numbers 4F 2L. Now on mine and Rat's 2 heads it says 4F 1R or 4F 18 (cant really see which). Anyone what the difference is??

sorry man, dont know...
but on a side note i see the SR20 engines also have plenty of numbers on the cylinder head. there are at least 2 different set of stamped numbers, and one set of cast numbers.
i think the numbers refer to different sets of the same engine.
like the red top engine is a 52C, then the red top FWD is a 53C (AFAIR), the gti-R engine is a 54F. i'm there are different numbers for turbo versus n/a motors, and FWD vs RWD vs AWD motors!

I've tried searching the net but I've come up with nothing so far...
Also quite interested to know what the difference is. Maybe it just got to do with manufacture date or summing??

These are cast numbers in the head.

then i think my reply applies!
its got to do with the different models of engine in the different configurations.

It can also be the production line info, if they realize a fault with a cast they need to know where to go and find it... Etc..
I hope we don't get into the 4F is better than the 2B thing...
I remember when I was a Ubër PC overclocker, we where hunting CPU's from certain manufacturing plants since they overclocked better... all for a 100mhz better increase, which in the end of the day... is fuckall... for the amount of effort we went through in hunting down those chips...
