Clutch Recap

Hey guys,

I know this topic has been talked about (allot). But me and Hanco is struggling with our clutch.

I want to go the route of a button clutch:

Gary: You helped Rat with his clutch? What clutch is it and what was done to it? If a price can be added it would be great.....

Somebody used the LUK R30mk clutch? Now our maccie told hanco that the clutch doesnt fit? Was there mods to be done to the clutch to make it fit?

Chemcool and ?: You got your clutch made up at Lima? Also what clutch was used and what was done to it? And if a price can be added it would be great.

Reason for these questions is that there is allot of advice and postings on the forum about the clutches, but nothing that indicates enough info to guide SX owners to what we can use and what to do with it.....

I dont want to use a Genuine Nissan clutch from the dealer because I bought one and after 3 months it started slipping again! R4000-00 down the flippen drain! I took the same clutch and modded it by getting a stronger pressure plate done, it works for daily driving, but if I drag more than twice the bitch shows me the finger and slips again!

You all know what my car pushes out, it aint allot! 20kw more than standard! how difficult can it be to get a proper clutch!

Apparently according to my maccie, you cant use the nissan clutch and convert it to a button clutch? Why not? So how do I get a button clutch?

Also, dont come to me with buy a performance clutch that will cost me R5000-00! This post is so we can sort out what works and what doesnt work. Not allot of people have R5000-00 for a clutch. (or atleast I dont)

Sorry if I sound bit crumpy, but this cluth is pissing me off!

Your maccie is hitting you with a wortel....most performance clutch guys need your old one to make a button clutch, we paid around R2500 but I found a guy in pretoria that quoted me R1000.

well they are rebuilding mine now but he said he can do it but its gonna be the same. There is only one release something or point is there is only one of those things on a normal clutch where a racing clutch has 3 of those whatever you call them!

Soz, was a long day! How did the clutch work for you? Driveable for everyday?

Grip?

What was your car pushing out?

Soz for all of the questions! Starting to feel like Gary! (no offence dude)

In the beginning it takes a bit of getting use to but not long then it's fine, the hardest part is the dubbel diaphram pressure plate, it's a bit hard on the clutch leg in traffic but it gets better(softer) the longer you drive with it.

I discovered this guy after I paid R2500 for the kit at louis lima.

Just remember, I used a 5puk button clutch, not a 3 or 4, it is a bit more driveble and I did not go for solid witch helped aswell.

I pushed out around 170kw on the wheels with no clutch problems.

We phone them, hear what needs to be done, and get aplce here to do it! Or if we can verify if those LUK R30MK clutches work on our cars, then we just send the clutch up.

Or we get a price from them thst includes the clutch! and post it down.....
