What clutch?

Post by Daniel »

Ok so I should probably buy a new clutch to go in with that other engine (if it ever goes in  ).

Ok so does anybody know where to get a clutch or what to ask for. I believe the Maxima's clutch is a perfect fit :? can anybody confirm. and around what price should i be looking at.

suggestions, comments and especially donations welcome.

Maxima clutch fits... If you want a performance clutch check the UK sites they have them for a couple of hundred pounds...

Phinx bought a Repco clutch, Midas said it was for an 1800 200SX, and the Clutch fitted, but not the pressure plate, so he re-used his old one.

1x full tilt pull away and the clutch was toast....

PM him, he had a custom 6 puck copper button made using the center of the old clutch, it also didnt cost alot (Comparitively) Its given him quite a number of hassle free km's, no problems, and trust me, he drives like a yahoo (no relation to WooHaa :P)

P.S. The mechanic that referred him also does toyota cup racing with the same clutches.

Button Clutches Rule!
A friend of mine did his at Big Boss Auto. They also just used his old him & refurbished it with 6 new buttons.

My previous SX had a button clutch. Bites like sh*t on a blanket.
Much better feel as well, compared to standard.

Button clutches are great but if you drive traffic everyday pulling and stopping becomes a problem and as far as my info goes it costs a bit moore than a normal clutch because you need a dubble pressure plate made and and and....if you gonna race all the time and only use it here and there it's fine but everyday driving....???? Again it's advice that was given to me so I have no actual experience of what it really costs and what ups and downs it brings.

well i didn't exactly get the 1200 rand ama-cheap-cheap version made by fanie's engineers...

But i have heard that LOTS of traffic driving will wear out your clutch's grip serface on a button clutch - this can however just get recoated.

I drive in traffic quite a bit, and everything except 'n prang on the highway is a breeze

a breeze
I drove a 2ltr Golf with a solid plate 4 puck and it was a breeze in traffic so yeah... and it was a R400 odd job from a ama-cheap-cheap place in PTA :D

Solid plate just engages a bit more violently, where the spring loaded is very much the same as a normal clutch without the slip...
