Howzit Fellow SX owners....

Well, Im slowly but surely modding my SX.

Thoughts in the beginning was to do the suspension first and then performance. But as we all know it! The urge to push the limits is always there!

So..... I figured out what is done with the car when I bought it. Here it goes:

1. Boost turned up to 0.9Bar. (Was like that when I bought the car)

2. S14 turbo exhaust housing and exhaust turbine wheel. ( Modded when I recon the turbo.)

3. Clutch strengthened with stronger pressure plate. (Does slip after heavy abuse - thats with 145kw on the flywheel)

4. Mags and Tires: 225/45/17 tires and Zax Classic 17" mags. (Black with polished lip.)

5. Lowering springs. (35-40 mm)

This is my latest mods......
1. BOV - R450.00 from SA Autopart. LOUD, VERY VERY LOUD

2. Boost Gauge - R480 from SA Autopart. Autogauge electronic boost gauge. Works very well and looks super sweet!

Mods that are next that I still need to fit...
1. Backbox - R500 from SA Autoparts. 76mm inlet with a 110mm outlet. will be put on a 63mm exhaust that expands to a 76mm to accomodate the backbox for less restriction. Will be doing exaust from the turbo.

Boost Controller - R250?? Private Buy. Manual Boost Controller. Will fit to see if it works...?

Up to date the SX is making 145kw on the fly with 256nm torgue. The goal with my SX is to make as much torque as I can with standard internals and use the standard turbo casing but modify the internals.

Also to come:

-Port and flow head, valves, cams ect....... (Still doing research)
-Turbo internals, powercote casing.....
-KA24DE throttle body.
-Intake manifold mods.....(Research is still on)
-Water and Meth ( Chem, this is where you come in! )
-FMIC, not very big. (still deciding on water&meth with FMIC or without FMIC).

Ok, now for the Format:

Turbo - S14 exhaust housing and exhaust turbo wheel:

Cost: R8000-00 incl turbo recon with new internals and manifold skim.

Installation: N/A (Did not do it myself)

Gain / Loss: Gain is that the boost comes in earlier but more suttle and not wham in your face. Causes the car to be very smooth. Peak power shifted from 6000rpm to about 5400rpm.

Pros / Cons: Pro - the car is allot more driveable and it feels allot stronger at lower revs.
Cons - You really have wind up the car to hold a nice long drift, but as soon as your in full boost there is no going back.

Mags, Tires, Lowering Springs

1.Cost: Mags & Tires R8000-00 Springs R800-00

2.Installation: Pretty easy to do mags! Springs was also easy to install, not that big a job. Thought it would be more work. Hardest part was loosening the bolts thats been on for 15years...

3. Gain / Loss: Better handeling and lower centre of gravity. Traction improved loads!

4. Pros + Cons: Cons - A bit more bumpy ride but worth it. Pros - See Gain / Loss.

5. Mags + Tires: Formula 1 Tires, Springs from private dealer.

On that S14 Turbo Exhaust housing mod, I take it you have a .64 exhaust housing now?

Sokar: Im not up to date with turbo sizes and so on, but if thats the size on the S14, then yes, thats what ive got on.

It really works great!

yes - the s14 turbo is a T28.

everything about the t28 is bigger than the stock T25 turbo on hte ca18det, except for the mounting base, and the oil and water galleries and connecting points.

so a t25 has a 0.48 AR ratio on the exhaust housing.

whereas the t28 has a 0.64 exhaust housing.

i'm not too sure of the specs on the wheels, but its also bigger. and the compressor housing is bigger, but i think it runs the same AR ratio. or something!

google or wiki it!

Tomorrow morning 7 o'clock my next mod will happen...

Mildsteel from the turbo until the flex. From flex it will be stainless.

Will keep you posted.
