Does anyone have any ideas how to keep that gold look on a stainless manifold?? They look nice and shiney when the silver but after the 1st run the get that gold colour which looks awesome. Then they turn a burnt black colour which is kak.
Any ideas??

its probably got to do with heat ranges.
my stainless back boxes used to be a mirror finish. they immediately turned gold. and they haven't changed since.
so then if you want to keep it gold you have to spank your manifold everyday. ...
which means you'll probably go BLIND!!!

Well if you you go blind, then you won't see the black anymore...

Gary, now these dudes make it difficult hey? Funny
I enjoyed this one so much.
My 2 cents: make sure when you polish it, the manifold is not heated.

Well , I remembered Gary said it once was nice silver shining, then it turned to a gold bling colour, but now it is totally dark grey. No bling what so ever. I think it is one of those things.

Autosol.
That will work. It will bring it back to it's original luster.
So start spanking!!!....erm.....POLISHING!!!! That's what I meant.

Polishing doesnt work, been there tried that.
The manifold is like stained that and no amount of polish will remove it. You can never remove all the polish residue so when you start the car you will burn the residue into the manifold, making it look even worse.
I think ceramic coating is the only answer.

yeah while i was reading your answer i was thinking...
ceramic coating is the way to go.
there are many colours and you can polish it to a shine, and you get the benefit of a cooler engine bay!

autosol WILL work. I use it on my bikes pipes. Will even remove that blue colour - but that looks cool.

No it doesnt work already tried that. You guys are missing the point, I dont want to polish my manifold everyday or even every month. I want something that I can put on and will stay that colour, I heard somewhere that if you leave brasso on it it will go that goldy colour.
