ummm. hehe. just slightly worried about this. oil light comes on when I idle after few minutes of driving. don't think its the sensor... but will get one anyway first. R23.90 OP6072 is the part no. they asked me if it was a sentra lol. so I paged through the catalog my self.
any one know where I can source an oil pump and how much it will be. I'm dreading to ask nissan. they want R600 for an arial. I geuss its made of gold now...
vlade said I might need a rebuild cos damage could allready have been done.
if its not the sensor. ill get an oil preassure gauge aswell to make shure.

Well an oil pump thats round about the price of an non OEM item... if you buy one from a spares shop check if you can get a Parrat I swear its an OEM item, otherwise Rezlo got OEM items and its way cheaper than Nissan SA.

If the pressure was low or none it might have damaged your engine already as it ever so happens...

In 1991 I was one of the very first sx owners in SA. I lost that sx engine because the oil pressure lights come on to late or not at all :!: The sx was out of the box. It is also confirmed from MAUS Perf that if this light comes on, it is to late. Damaged done. I have fitted autostyle oil pressure switch and it is a second nature to watch this gauge. I can even see from this gauge when the oil is in good running temp or properly warmed up, just by reading the oilpressure. When the car is cold, oil pressure slightly higher. When hot it is lower. So two flies one shot.

Ok Freddie, you have convinced me - I'm not gonna put an oil temp guage, rather I'll put oil pressure guage! I was gonna rely on the light to warn me of impending doom, but since I've heard it more than once that the light comes on too late, I've changed my mind.

gauge

VW are the only manufacturers that have a oil pressure warning system that will save your engine.
All the others use a sender that switches at like .2 bar I have seen cars with what sounded like men with hammers inside the engine turn that light off on startup.

Where is the easiest place to take a oil pressure reading from?? I think I will just go buy a cheapy shitty gauge, put it in and go for a drive.

Umm best place really is to put in a little distribution block at the oil pressure switch is, don't know if one can mount it on the oil cooler but there is also a plug there

What should the oil pressure be?? I am a bit concerned because for the last few days when I start it in the morning the oil light flickers for a second then goes off.

Mine hovered around 2-4 depending on the oil temperature... I think that is also a bit low

Do you think I have anything to worry about with mine flickering on in the morning?? How much are oil pumps??

Vlade, your oil pressure is spot on. It corrosponds with mine. Yes, it varie slighly according to the oil temperature. See manual for oil pressures.

Im just wondering how u guys connected ur gauges. I'm going to put in a T-piece where the oil switch is now... or do u have your gauge somewhere else? (is there somewhere else to put it)

Will the gauge read the corrct preassure as it will be extruding and sit on the outside where the switch is inside. now the oil has to fill a whole T-piece...???
