I think my sx's turbo is on its way out. Out. Klaar, Kaput, etc.
How do I know that? Experience.

Overspinning a poor T25?
How much boost you running again Chem?

No, it is rather a t28 so to say. Was not running any boost higher than 0.65 during the run in phase of my rebuild. I have just changed to synthetic oil now. So, this turbo was not working at all.
I will pull the motor again, sort out the turbo and replace engine crankshaft seal(back) at once. That will be end of March. It can wait now.

Is it a T28 off a SR or a T25 with a .64 housing?
Whats wrong with it?
Not holding boost?
Smoke?

Just after cold start, white smoke all over the place. Then seems to go away when driving.
That is all. Just the smoke. It is the turbo I bought from Ero, it is bigger than t25 and yes the .64 housing.
What about breather pipes? I dont know? It holds boost perfectly.

i dont think turbos are one of those parts that you go for the cheapest - its such a kak job to swop, rather save another month (or wait for your retirement, like im doing)

Ok then is a T25g off a :
S13 Black top - Came from 180sx's post 94 (Garrett T25G turbo)
S13 Red top - Came from S13 Silvia and 180sx pre 94 (Garrett T25G turbo)
Sounds like the rear seal is leaking does it start to smoke in traffic?
Does it do it at long idle?
Also what oil are you using and how does you drain pipe look?
its it blocked?

wait wait wait chomceel
white smoke might indicate water as far as i know - which brings to mind a certain mod youve got going there. can you disconnect or something to check?

Minen kleinen turbo also does the same... newly overhauled less than 4500km back... and it also smokes on start up... I reckon it would smoke while idling as well although I have not seen it... Mine is a stock T28 form a S14 has never seen boost higher than 0.7 bar (actually I lie, but it was for a few milliseconds when the actuator pipe jumped off)
Now from what I read is that a ball bearing turbo is even less fragile if its not taken care off properly, but what are we doing wrong that the turbo smokes so quickly? I idle my car before I shut it down (and that is for the bearings not the seals)

Mine doesnt smoke on the startup or idle but like hel on a de-exelaration. Howmuch is a rebuild going for?

deceleration smoke is likely the valve seals broo.
rebuilds arent cheap! why not buy my CA18!!! hehe.
