So I have the opportunity to buy either of these two sets of front calipers.
What are the differences? Will I be limited in terms of discs if I ended up with the 26mm ones??

Get a set of 30mm, this will allow you to run a thicker disc (greater cooling), make sure they are the Aluminum ones though.
Where are you getting them from?? Do they perhaps have the rear calipers aswell, I need a set.

Thanks Gary. That's what I thought.
BUt does that mean that the 26mm ones aren't worth the money?
(I'll keep an eye out for rears)

What are you paying for them?? 26mm discs are cheaper than 30mm, If you into racing then 30mm is the answer, if its just for street use then 26mm will be fine.

Will there be no adverse effects on brake balance?

You will have more braking on the front, it is hardly noticable.

Ok auction just ended.
Got the 30mm ones (sandblasted) incl. hardware for $155. I hope that is not expensive.....
The 26mm ones went for $130.
I guess rears will be a must now to avoid the car being tail happy under hard braking. How many different rear calipers are there and which are the ones to get?
I'd prefer something that uses the discs for the handbrake too and not the internal drum like the stock sx.

What site was the auction on?? That is fair price to pay for them, any idea how much shipping will be??
As far as I know all the Z32 rear calipers were the same, the same as Subaru WRX. The Z32 rear disc will work with our handbrake system but only 280mm or something. I will probably get a set made when I get the calipers, I would like to go 320mm at the rear because my fronts are 330mm. That will give an almost even brake distribution which I will compensate with a brake bias valve.

Got em off ebay. Shipping is $40 to SA since they're pretty light.
I think 280mm will be plenty for the rear. Saw some nice discs at vc's place that the guy with the red sx organized.

those rear discs are 296mm, are ventilated, and still work with the original s13/z32 handbrake drum!

That was a good price.I paid 350 dollars for all four and the shipping was 80 dollars .Then the import duties was R800! The guy with the red SX didn't organise the rear discs-he paid hard cash for them!!!!

I'm still looking for rebuild kits for the rears but this how it will look like when it's fitted...droooool!!!

he he..
So tell me, do these 300zx calipers mount on the original points as the OEM s13 brake calipers?
And do they allow you to run these big discs while being mounted in the OEM mounting points?

All the sets of rears I find, the people wont ship to South Africa. I did find 1 guy, the calipers were $50 and he wanted $122 for shipping.

yes the rear calipers do fit onto the stock mounting locations.
only problem is that the original discs are way too small.
you need to buy original 300zx discs, or discs like we got, so that the dics actually goes all the way into the caliper.
you also need a set of custom brake lines.
