OK, i need help.....
My car is very standard, too standard and already too slow!!!
All i have done is cut the bottom of the airbox off....... Sounds nice but thats about it.
Got new mags.... Does nothing performance wise......(Will post pics when my F**KEN camera decides to work!!!).
Oh yes, on turbo they took off S13 outlet and put in S14, whatever that might do....?
So next is my drop kit, then exhaust - will be 63mm - this is what I was told to put on - need some help from you blokes? What you think? Only one box at the end....
FMIC will be after that, I already know which one and size>>>>
Then get that actuator you can ajust with spring and get boost to 0.8bar at the coast.....
Then hopefully I can get a unichip for a good price..........
So what you guys recon? Any tips. Plz. Need help with this....
Im used to N/A oval track cars, not turbo cars!!!

i was told to go 76mm, on the exhaust, but havn't yet.
Which an wot size FMIC u going with?
Drop kit sounds hot, but on our roads? espcially cape town's.
I wanna totally re-do my suspension. New springs, coil-overs etc...

those mods sound like good ones.
i have a 63mm exhaust. any upgrade on pipe size will help performance, but your best bet is to go with a 76mm. this is a very common size to upgrade to. when you see it on the car the piping looks mahoosive, but thats a good thing. it allows the turbo to expel exhaust more efficiently, and results in a gain of power.
new mags - awesome. the standard ones are definitely way too small. n1smo200sx has 18's and it look downright fantastic.
apparently the s14 turbo outlet is slightly larger, and this goes hand in hand with the larger zorst. another good thing, but the gains might be very small. but then again, every little bit helps.
i'm not so sure about cutting the bottom of the airbox off. this might actually reduce your output hey, but again this is a contentious issue. i have a cone filter, and i'm not even sure this helps anything. remember the filter is on the hot side of the engine, and removing parts of the airbox might help to suck hot air into the turbo. not good for performance, but i know it sounds lekka.
FMIC - very good mod to do. but dont go mad, get a size that matches your setup. while you're doing this mod, its also easy to put in a BOV. some poophols call it a dump valve. sounds awesome, and helps prolong the life of the turbo by eliminating backpressure on the blades when you close the throttle.
you dont need an adjustable actuator to get to 0.8 bar boost. a simple boost controller will do it, but the best would be some form of electronic boost control. this is however, quite expensive. remember that anything over 0.8 bar on a stock turbo will see the turbo operating out of its efficiency range and will just blow hot air into your system, without increasing your power much at all. you'll get heat soak all the time, and your turbo wont last very long at all.
as for suspension - this is one part where you can seriously increase the enjoyment you get from your car. lowering the car helps looks yes, but can help handling too, if you get decent springs. i would also suggest polyurethane suspension bushes. the best kit to get is from energy suspension in the states. its the cheapest and most complete kit you will find, and this seriously will increase the handling of the car, specially in conjunction with bigger mags and better tires.
now get out there and go do it.
DO IT!!!

Do what veecee says, good advice.
I also recommend the 76mm instead of the 63mm, the more restrictive your exhaust the more back pressure you'll have which is a bad thing. however going bigger than 76mm is not a good idea on an 1.8ltr but i'm too asleep after the damn load shedding to give you a reason

if i remember i'll come back to this point later.

Ja VC's is advice is good.
I have a dum.... sorry BOV fitted, getting my intercooler at the end of the month, Got a drilled airbox, Now just need the zorst...

Should be fine but there's a lot more to intercooling other than core size.
A few points to remember:
1. Streamlining of the air channels in the core is a bad thing, without some resistance the air passing through will not give up heat as easily which defeats the point of an intercooler.
2. Bad design of end tanks causes pressure drops, this adversely affects throttle response. The fewer sharp bends that your intake charge has to make the better.
It's all about flow

cheers jon,
i am aware of those factors and will keep them in mind...
About the exhaust, 76mm is R4000 More expensive than 63mm at Powerflow.
Got a price on japstyle back box single is R450 and dual is R750... import from italy....

That's ridiculous, call Viper exhausts up here in JHB, they're pretty good.
Go single, dual tips on a single pipe doesn't seem right.

Well I dont mind the 63mm, it only cost R1400 at powerflow for 63mm, and dont think I will need bigger soon....
What about the front part of exhaust, manifold and that, the parts they dont touch wid a exhaust installment.

Is that for mild steel? If it is rather save up for stainless, the mild option doesn't last too long. I cheaped out with a bmw I had a few years ago and it didn't last a year

It's fine for manifolds where it copes better with heat expansion but for the rest of the exhaust you really want stainless.
Phone the various tuners in Cape Town and find someone to custom build you a 76mm. Rather do the job right the first time. Maybe Powerflow is your best option but it never hurts to look around.
Depends on the turbo you're going to use at the end of the day. Phinx makes around 150rwkw up here at Gauteng altitude so the standard manifold has room to grow as long as your turbo has a T2.5 flange (T25's & T28's).

thats for stainless, powerflow only does stainless exhaust systems...
styin with the same turbo.
As soon as my car is paid in full then Im gonna buy another car for daily driving, then the SX is gona be my toy and project car.
So minor mods for now....

If you feel happy with 63mm, then go for it. It will restrict you later on though.
There's nothing wrong with that, one step at a time

yeah it will later, but at that time I wana import a quality performance exhaust.... I only want 250kw on the wheels at the end of the day.
Anything more and the SX will not be driv-a-ble......
