You know they cost about +- R6500-00 and that is a fiberglass one with Carbon over lay.

A fiberglass hood weighs about the same as a carbon fiber hood. Unless you can source out a hood made out of "Dry" carbon fiber as opposed to the typical "Wet" carbon fiber. If you can't find either hood cut the removing most of the webbing from underneath the hood will make things much lighter.

errm, im not saying that i dont agree, but i dont agree.

sure, in theory it should weigh around the same, BUT for CF you need three layers max, while with fibreglass you would need 5 or more layers and probably more support webbing to get the same rigidity - fibreglass flexes a lot more

hell no!

i've calculated that (CF, that is) its gonna COST me R3500 to make one!

(that is IF you get it perfect in the first go (which is very improbable)

so, if you throw the first two away, you are over R10k already

COST

What about FB though?
That should be a lot cheaper. Right?
Mould = R500 - R1000.
Fibreglass and resin about R1000 (Bulk)
Patience and experience = Priceless...
