Howsit guys

Sme is needing a new radiator, can any one recommend a good place to source these items...

I went to Silverton Radiators in Centurion yesterday, they gave me the following quote

42mm core to fit my car R1280 ex VAT + then I need to get tanks made ±R700

Or use a Maxima radiator, like new 38mm R500 but the inlet outlet doesn't line up so I'll need to get some custom piping :sad-smiley-056:

Can't find the right post quick enough, but wanted to know what the new people know about the old questions that we asked when there were less of us. One that comes to mind is that I see a bunch of you have electric fans. What was the final verdict on where (and how big) to buy? Other info would also help (oh and how much?)

is there anybody left with viscous clutches???

i'll be on about 400hp (flywheel) soon, and fully intent keeping my viscous fan - till it breaks of course, then i'll get 2 electrics (i think you need summing 1200+ cfm/minute)

Viscous is the way to stay

Problem with electric fans is that you have to lose the cowling, which drastically reduces the efficiency of the radiator - basically it will now only cool in two spots where the fans are, rather than 90% of it's surface using the viscous fan + cowling

cool, makes sense - when i put my cowling back it did make a helluva diff.

Jay_boy, did you buy that visc? i think last time you made someone here an offer... i'm also in the market if sumwan wants to sell

I am still on viscuss and looks like I will stay that way, But I keep on listening and are open for negotiations.

We all have our preferences, I opted for the 2 electric fans, my car runs on the same temp as before but should have a slite power gain, only problem I had is the voltage drop when the fans came on, this I elimenated by setting my idle up to about 1000 revs per minute. now I have no voltage drops even when I switch my lights on and stuff.

If I feel I need the fans on all the time I built in a tokkel switch to switch both 12" fans on and keep them on if I want to. My fans run very soft so there is no noise like a visques fan or electric fans sounding harder than the engin.

Previosly with visques fan I could not feel the heat escaping from the engin bay, now if I stand next to the car I feel it properly when the fans are on and took the bonnet rubber out and will lift the bonnet a little to maximize the air escape.

It has been said before and I agree with it, they woulden't have put a visques fan there if it wasn't necesary but all cars after that period comes out with electric fans and the same counts, they woulden't have changed to electric application if it wasn't usefull.

Keep it don't keep it it's your own choice, I am happy with what I did because I will never need to change the fan clutch and I can replace my electric fans 10 times more for the same money as for the clutch and will take me not even half the time to do the actual job.
