rather ask yourself:
if XYZ are selling ABC for less than everywhere else, does that make them reputable???

I for one wouldn't stake my engine just because Speed and Sound endorses a product, it is an entertaining read though.
The standard CA and SR conrods are a lot stronger than most give them credit for.

Has been around for some time.
I have been in contact with the guy for a couple of weeks now.
The guys says they are "eagle rods" but I have no proof yet of eagle making rods for the Ca18det, Maybe Im not looking right,, if anyone has a link post it please
Im planning on personally seeing the guy when I have the funds
Im planning to use a set in my rebuild. I know this is over kill but Im building for reliabilty now and for future modifications, I dont want to open anything again.

well i'm not saying they aren't good quality, or that they have crap service. but i am naturally skeptical. specially if someone says that they are eagle rods, yet the manufacturer themsselves says they dont make that product.
i guess i've been affected by too many crap products for sale in this country!!! like the SA jerseys and flags and sunglasses on street corners!!!
and as for endorses??? i'm not sure that SnS endorses the product more than they're happy to sell advertising space at highly lucrative rates!!!

My apologies, I should have said advertise instead of endorse.
Damn, that other thread with the info on how to identify a genuine eagle rod was deleted. Just cause they say it's an eagle rod doesn't make it so but maybe I'm just overly skeptical like veecee.

rezlo said that the way to identify an eagle rod is the rib line down the side of the rod, as well as eagle logo's in various places.
the knock-offs dont have the ribbing in particular!

Those rod are made in China just like almost everything else he sells I have it straight from the horses mouth.
The advertising says "similar to Eagle rods" or "Like Eagle rods" in small print read the advert again carefully.

I was on the website and they do not say that it is eagle or something like that.
As for the quality of that stuff, I don't have a clue, everything they say on the site sounds nice but in the end what they say and what you get might be something different, then again it could be everything you wanted and people knock it off because it is cheaper than other brand names....there is no way to be sure really
Actually there is....why not go to them and tell them that everybody thinks it is shit, then tell them to prove to you that it is good quality and that you would not only buy it but recommend it if they can really prove the quality

actually it sounds like we'll know for sure soon pretty soon. phinx has never been one to hold his tongue

(nice one, wonderboy!!!), so if its not good quality, then he will tell us i guess!

Like they say, "you get what you pay for it". I would rather pay a R1000 more for brand name and you know what you are getting. I will never buy no name brand stuff that plays a mojor role in the life of an engine or turbo, or any mechanical part.

Cool Will do just need to get my hands on the Rods.
The guy says he has proof about his conrods being eagle rods and that the rest are shit. Only time will tell
Also does anyone have a link to identifying Eagle rods over cheap rip off's ?
I will google it when I have time...
