Morning guys...
So I've finally gotten to startup.
Sadly, she won't start up.
Cranks all the way, kicks over but won't idle.
She just dies straight away.
So I have the management connected to my lappy.
And I got a map from SonofAnarchyZA. Thanx again bru!
I have an air temp sensor error. But then I don't have an air temp sensor.
Coolant is full, oil full, all management plugs connected.
I've been picking SonofAnarchy's brain last 48 hours.
So I wanna throw it out to all of you.
What have I missed? Is something still unplugged?
All input appreciated.

Re: CA18DET build: cranks but won't idle
Hey Man,
At a guess the problem you have is the fact that the tune you got is taking air temp readings as part of the fuel calculation.
You could probably mess with the tune to remove the air temp compensation and make it run like that, but that is not a
permanent solution. Air temp is needed when running a MAP sensor as your load detecting sensor. MAP sensors can only
detect manifold absolute pressure, so air temp is needed to complete the Speed-Density calculation used to fuel the car.
My suggestion would be to wire in a air temp sensor and take it to a tuner to map it...the fact that it starts means that you are
pretty much there. Remember, a base map is just that and is in no way a guarantee that it'll start.
Have you calibrated you TPS and engine temp sensors? (You'll have to do the same for the air temp sensor when you fit it).
Do you run an internal or external MAP sensor? (If external, you'll have to calibrate that as well)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

Re: CA18DET build: cranks but won't idle
the map you have there doesnt need air temp correction as i never had air temp back then. Make sure that you cas has been turned all the way to the right or else your timing might be wrong. Might be worth just checking that the timing on the crank is the same as what the ecu thinks it is.

and you must remember that the map was tuned around 440cc injectors so sure your fueling is also way off.

Dicktator ?
I had same problem when the ecu did not pick up water temp. Make sure the water temp it connected and working.

Re: CA18DET build: cranks but won't idle
Thank you guys.
All things i would never have thought of, and great places to start.
I'll fiddle with the timing this evening.
Tomorrow, I'll cover all the rest.
Will update asap.
