hey guys I was just wondering what is the most that a ca18det block can be bored to ?? at the moment its at 84mm but block is damaged

is there anyway I could go to a bigger piston say 85mm?

There are 85mm CP pistons on sale for the CA, wich means it's possible, my opinion, if you do bore it for a 85mm piston, you will have to get some ARP head studs going and a MLS head gasget then over tighten it a bit, I have looked at mazda pistons, do some research go to your local part shop ans see what 85mm pistns they have with a 20mm gadgen pin.
The best would obveously be to resleave because this option requeres more money and you may still end up with reliebility issues, not many has done it so it could or could not be a graet idea.

You risk breaking into the water ports if you go more than 84mm.
I have a 84mm block if you are interested. I will need to check it's condition as I left it in the bag when it came back from the engineers and never looked at it again. Make a offer.

hey guys ok so I took a trip to the engineers and they showed me that it is possible to bore out and use a ca20 piston its stock size is 84.5mm and its a nural piston we going to give it a try and see what power we can make from it its risky but what the heck hey

will let you know when its done and how much it makes on the dyno

You gonna import CA20 pistons or is it availible locally, never checked?

Ca20 is local. The 2l skylines ran that motor. Ca18 is a lot stronger.

well lets see, a combination of the ca20 pistons and the CA18 block might be interesting, if there is no reliebilty issues with the big bore of the block.

just using the pistons, yes I can get them locally, aftermarket nural pistons, I called up nural and they told me that it is the same strength at there ca18det piston and its stronger then the std piston they told me its possible to run it at 1.3 bar on these pistons reliably granted that the tuning is good . I havnt started a build thread as yet will do it soooon
