injector sizes?

hey guys just a question on injectors that i dont understand.

i have been doing some research and noticed the following

ca18det motor uses 370cc injectors
sr20det and the rb25det also uses 370cc injectors
however the rb20det motor uses 270cc injectors

now here is my question, how is it that the ca18det motor uses 370cc injectors i mean its the smallest turbo motor of the above mentioned motors why doesnt it use 270cc injectors like the rb20 motor? in my eyes 370cc injectors are way to big for an 1800 motor

lets face it there is nothing special on the ca18 motor, yes maybe if it was a high performance motor maybe like the sr20 gtir motor i could understand it.

maybe im missing something?

370cc injectors aint that big at all, The N/a Sr20de came with 270cc injectors.

If you do the effort you will notice that a Rb20det only has about 333cc per cylinder. Where a Ca18det has 450cc per cylinder.

Another point is, there is nothing wrong with the Ca18 motors, they came with a sh@t management and an even sh@tter turbo.

If it actually had the same size turbo as the sr20det with a decent management, the power readings would not be too far off a stock sr20det. The n/a ca18de has around 101kw at flywheel, where the n/a sr20de has 103 kw. Where the turbo models had 127kw and 147kw respectively.

Remember 6 x 270 vs 4x 370

Don't forget bigger fuel pump and injectors depending on your plans.

speeking of witch i tried a bigger fuel pump and for some reason the car refuses to start with a 255ltr/h walbro fuel pump so i stil have to sort that problem out somehow any though on that?

starts perfect with the oe pump, looks like the walbro floods the car

that means your standard fuel pressure regulator is not regulating the pressure, you will have to install an after market fpr to regualte the fuel.

yes i double cheched it like 3 times the pump runs and when i take the pipe off at the fuel rail there is poresure there as soon as i restrict it by clamping the fuel line closed basicaly restricting the presure then it tries to start, makes no sence to me hey

but if you clamp the return and it works that means the pump is dead because if you clamp the return you are increasing the pressure to max

im not clamping the return im clamping the feed from the tank so in theory i am reducing the presure.

Draco you have a good point with the presure regulator there now i need to get an aftermarket one, boy o boy does spending money on a SX ever end?
