Not to say.

My head gasket was shot and my car didn't overheat once!
Thats different, if your car overheats the head gasket will go, after that it will just overheat the whole time. Friend of mine's BMW has same problem 2 weeks ago. And I have seen it happen multiple times!

I will put my head on a block on this one!

Hanco - There can be other factors but this is the most likely one! Guaranteed!

I'm not saying that its not, but doing a HG is expensive, thus let him check all the other things first, its cheaper and will save him money.

When all the rest has been checked and no fault found then you can go on looking at the HG.

One shouldn't be that negative from the start. I have seen it plenty of time with my sx, I thought my fuel pump was shot, it sounded like my car was starving and it ended up to be a spark plug!

Make sure your fan temp switch works and that the fans work...

After my rebuild the switch was toast and didn't switch on the fans - my car almost overheated while idling. If it heats up while you drive around it's not the answer though...

Thank you fellow SX owners for all the help and suggestions! :)
I think I should make those fans flush because they aren't...
And there is a bolt in the block somewhere where the water from the block can be drained. We'll try and see if those pipes trough the block are mucky and try clean them out...

Not sure??? It's not the welsh plug though... Just wanna try and clear out the muck in the block...
So taking that bolt out to drain the water from the block not a good idea?
How else can we check if all the water lines in the block are flowing fine?

technically there are lots of bolts in the block. keeps everything in place.

as for drainage bolts - i'm sure you could find one or two, but the engine is in the car right??? cos then its gonna be a BIATCH!

Tried to get that drain bolt undone and it's not funny how tight it is so I tried to flush the block from the inlets but no mess came out so I'm pretty much back to square 1 :?
Checked the water pump too and it's working fine so I really don't know what's the problem anymore... :(
