Its just a hunch.

From what i understand Torque is for acceleration and KW is to hold the speed.

Torque for me is also more important.

A very very simple explaination, torque is the power of the bang in the cylinder, KW is the peak rate of bang accross the rev range.... Chew that one over a bit :P
