Cheers Ades, yes, very nice little engine. I have toned it down a bit as getting consistent fueling at all conditions at that boost level is rather difficult. My knock sensor was occasionally telling me to back out.Adrian wrote:Ah love the seat Barry!! Very nice to hear she's running strong
You run there all the time you will break the engine.
So were back down to 0.8bar for now, especially in this heat we`re experiencing in Joburg ! Damn, it`s friggin hot !
I want to setup my meth inj as well, its been in the car all along but I have not utilized it yet.
Thanks Dman, the seat really is great.

So today we headed to Swartkops raceway. Brilliant fun was had by all and this time I was a bit better prepared.
The race seat did wonders as it kept my ass where it`s supposed to be, did find that my upper torso was being strained though.
I also fitted some old`ish semi slicks I had on the old wheels. What a difference these made ! Simply superb.
After the first heat I came in and pondered the handling as I was really fighting the car through bends, sweeps and tight corners.
I had stuck 2bar tyre pressure all round cold , the shock adjustments were still as I had set them up for the street and the back end felt loose and jiggly.
Before the second session I dropped the rear tyre pressure by 0.1 bar , stiffened up the front BC`s by three notches from 5 to 8 and dropped the rear to make her settle better.
This was simply such an improvement over earlier that I left it like that for the third as well.
Unofficial time ? 1:19 odd. Better than the 1:27 I started off with..
You guys have to join us on track, it simply is tremendous fun.
I am seriously impressed with the S14 chassis, that's for sure.

nice!
what tyre pressure were you running when the tyres were hot, ie... did you check them as you came into the pits?

Some inspiration for a Monday morning
Would be interesting to see what times you manage on a track like Aldo or Killarney where the S14 benchmark times are openly available from bolt-on suspension to full race setups.

Cheers guys, it was tremendous fun ! Brend, hot pressures rear were 2.4 bar, fronts 2.5 bar.
A little more work on the car, a LOT more work on the driver and we may have a sort of "fun" car here..Really, the chassis is real good.
I must just not turn her into a fully fledged racer...after all, she is my daily.

Barry your car looks amazing round the track. The best lap that I timed was a 1:18:89 so just under 1:19. If you had clear traffic it was very consistant 1:19 or 1:20.
Well Done bud
