Took the standard s13 diff out on the weekend ... fitting a custom ramped diff.. about 1.7 way.

Wasnt hard to pull the diff out but i reckon putting it back in isnt gonna be fun by myself.. will get the fiance's hands dirty on that one :)

So i whent to have my diff modified into a 2way... well thats what i thought. sent my original diff into Ken @ Transaxle in Pinetown. go to pick it up 2 weeks later.. and they assemble it infront of me... holy shizzle it was sexy... all new, all billet... they just needed my old diff for reference apparently. The new diff is a 2 way.. but ken says they can change it at anytime ( for free ) to a 1.5 or whatever i want. They arent the cheapest.. but from what i hear their diffs have been out performing and outlasting all the big name brand imported diffs... so im stoked.. just need to test it now.

Got my new diff into the car, bit of a ballache 1 person job.. especially with teh wrong tools. good times.

Then it was time to focus on the ECU again... and still we having comport issues... atleast theres no password anymore. Big thanks to Gary and Mical.. for the hand the other night.. and Micals Ballie for towing the sx back.. very lucky to know guys like you.

SX is at the tuners that got the Haltech running the first time... they've got an ollllld laptop with serial ports... should do the trick. we hope :)

I've had my fair share of serial comms issues....what a pain in the arse to sort out.

Glad you're getting it sorted.

Nice work!

Any chance we can get some more diff information? I'm sure others, myself included would appreciate it. I would like a proper diff.

The guy that built my diff is actually in the latest Speed & Sound... page 110, so if you interested id suggest reading that about Ken Westermeyer shop Transaxle / Gear and Axle Centre. I was told to go to Ken before the I knew about the SNS feature, he came HIGHLY recomended by anyone that had dealt withi him and his products... so i spoke to Ken about 7 months ago and ive been saving up cash since then for this operation.

To have the custom diff built cost R8000, however the s13 diff comes with odd length sideshaft connectors .. so they made me 2 new ones aswell... normally theyd charge 5k for this but for some reason they gave them to me for R2500. maybe i wasnt supposed to tell anyone that.. i dunno :)

so the total was R10500
and you get to sell your old diff :)

feedback... not a clue as im yet to drive the car... but i'll let you know. ive been told by other people that a 2way diff is an absolute dog to use on the street... so we'll see.

managed to get one shot only before all the bits whent into the diff... and its only of the 2x side shaft connectors.. but everything was new and sexy like this....

Image

and moments before i used every swear word i knew... putting the diff in...

This Morning Mical and his Dad came by my place and collected the SX... was great to see it on the road again... eve if it is in limp mode.. we dropped it at Autotrix in town to see if their old serial port laptop would do the trick for the Haltech.

Whent by the shop after work to check up on progress... unfortunatly they also cannot connect ... more comp issues, but they said they try again tomorow.. fingers crossed. They were also so kind as to give frank his yearly bath.. ha ha..
