Ahhh...that's better. Now I can take as long as I need to afford my rebuild on the engine! That's if I don't go spending all the money on drift days.

No, I actually bought my compact for £400 and I did a straight swap for this...so I got a very good deal!

So the flameface of the head looks good

BUT then I came across this pit in the head:

Which has done this to the cam:

How the hell does this happen. Looks almost like someone has taken the cams out, put it back in and there was a piece of metal stuck between the cam and head. I havn't put the cams back in place and tightened them down since I've had the engine out...

Example of a few with gumph buildup that the cams have been running on (3 like this)

So I did all the cam measurements and they are still within manufacturer standard measurements (No where near the limits) odly!
But then I found all this pitting:

I never saw any of these problems when striping the head! I guess this means the head and cams are scrap.

So long time since an update.

S14:
Sold of the engine in parts and ordered a sub 50K SR from Japan. Should be here in about 2 weeks so all I have done so long is remove the air con system and gather all the parts to put it back together and get it through MOT.

BMW:
The daily slag has been used for exactly what it was built for, it's kept me sideways so long and has been fun! So much fun that this is what I eneded up doing this to a half shaft:

For a sub 50K SR20DET that I have bought from Japan, including all costs came to £650. That includes a 14 day guarantee.

It's the engine with everything minus exhaust side (manifold, turbo and elbow)

Why, you on the hunt for an engine? If so I have contacts that import engines from Japan and can probably get it sent stratight to you.

Well there has been a delay so I won't get the engine till November now...so all I've done is cleaned the engine bay and fitted a Z32 fuel filter.

The rest of my time has been spent doing this:
