Hi guys i was asked by oe of your members to read this post and maybe put a response.

I am a representative of a company called Royal Purple, the leading Synthetic Oil Manufacturer in the World. I have been involved in Lubricants for most of my life and will be for many more.

I see that you guys have quite alot of questions and your own ideas about oil but there is one thing i need to clear up about Castrol Edge. I see you guys keep labeling it as a Fully Synthetic and also compare it to Mobil 1. Castrol Edge is manufactured from Group 3 Base Oils. Group 3 base oils are still mineral oil which have been syntnetized by a process called Hydrocracking, these oils were previously called Semi Synthetics. Castrol recently won a law suite allowing them to call their news oil Fully Synthetic on technical reasons. Other oil companies like Royal Purple and Mobil 1 use PAO (Polyalphaolefin) base stocks which are of much higher quality. PAO base stocks are made in a lab using a chemical prosess.

Royal Purple has the ability to outperform any oil on the market today and i would like to prove this to any member who may be interested. We have opened up a Quick Fluid Change centre near Kyalami so if anyone would like to try out Royal Purple and give back some feedback to members of this forum please feel free to come by and to make everything sound a but more attractive to you guys. I will offer you a free wheel alighnemnt with the oil change.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about oil.

Regards,

Nicolas

I was the one that contacted Royal Purple. Thanks Nicolas for giving us your imput. Here's a quote from the e-mail he sent me:
Thank you very much for your e-mail. I see you guys have quite a lot of interest about Synthetic Lubricants.

The oil that I would recommend it Royal Purple 10W40, it is perfectly suited for the South African Climate. The price of the oil is R 75.00 per Quart (946ml) excl VAT.

Royal Purple has a lot more benefits than other oil brands of which I would like to demonstrate.

We have opened up a quick oil change facility near the Kyalami Race Track where you can come and have your oil changed. No Labour charges are involved and you get a free wheel alignment with every oil change.

If you would like to come past please give me a ring.
I will add his contact details to our cellphone application so that you guys can contact him to make an appointment to get your oil changed (sorry for the guys that just put in Mobil 1 :-))

Details for Royal Purple are on the Cellphone application. Dial *120*444*2000# then choose option 6 (the Phonebook), then search for "royal". Normal VAS rates apply.

Hey Gary,

What is it exactly that makes it good? I think it is about R60-R65 per litre if i remeber correctly. Do you know that Amsoil is just a pyramid scheme company. That is what they built their success on. It does not offer anything supperior.

It's sad that Castrol won that case they had against them. So now some think they buy synthetic but acually they don't. I read about it on one of the Bike forums in the states

But 5w-40 seems much better on their website. And it states that it is turbo proven, the 5w-40 doesnt say that.
