Now instead of hammering Toby with what my have caused the problem how about using the same energy and come with a solution to fix is car

Just my 50 rands on it..
Solution to fix car is simple.

A year down the line and we're still having the same debates. In-house or outsourcing. Some people don't have time to fiddle with engines n tools n stuff. I'm watching Toby's progress with great interest & admiration; soon Toby will be a CA18DET/s13 master ninja.

I only wish toby would be aim a bit higher in terms of performance but maybe one day we'll see someone else on the forum build their own 2.0bar C18DET/SR/RB. No one said its impossible, but you probably need to learn either through experience or academically; I did neither & I am glad I found caver to sort out my upgrades.

Fact of the matter is we can't do everything ourselves & be experts in everything. I for one don't have time for half the hobbies I'd like to pursue. For instance when I bought this house I was going to dig up the garden and lay my own 2 lane track (for RC's) and landscape as I go along..but I haven't even unpacked my 4wd scoobie or s15 since moving.

VC, finding people that can build engines isn't a problem. It's trust that you have to worry about. I've been through some of the most reputable shops around and you can ask others, all the good guys will tell you straight off that most of the work they end up doing is fixing up crap, be it self inflicted or worse paid for.

Toby went through the same pain of trying various mechanics that don't know what they are doing or rip you off blatantly because their 'reputation' allows them. I found someone I could trust; I guess you either find someone that can do it for you or you could take the scenic route & DIY.

Either way once you're boosting its all the same!

thats what we're all worried about, but some things should be done by pro's. engineering for instance should be done by engineers. just like i had my car done! but assembly and disassembly can be done by anyone with some basic knowledge.

i, for one, though, would be quite worried about guarantees that cant be kept by some of these experts. the strength of someone's reputation lies clearly on how willing they are to admit where they messed up, and fix it accordingly!

U should get off your high horse and reread my post including the smiley face at the end of the sentence.

last time I checked smiley faces mean lighthearted comments or a joke
