If Nick's R33 GT-R did not steal your heart completely, then don't buy a GT-R.
You will be loved and hated by most with a nice S15 though.
If you are after handling RX-7, but then the V8 must go in, first thing.

It wasn't that Nicks car did not excite me, not at all ! It was the R300k that gave me a heart attack !

If you get a GT-R, for lets say R100k.
Suspension
Stroker kit
MLS gaskets
Turbo/s setup
Cooling setup
Fuel setup
Oil setup
Head work and valve train
Nice wheels, as most of the "cheaper" cars come with either stock or clown wheels.
Body work and making things look nice in general.
You will be at a R400-R500k total before you even know it.
This is without fancy gearboxes, diffs and brakes.
Doing this over time is better on the pocket, but kills your patience.

I do not know why we always put in inferior sh*t when the factory stuff is just sooo much better.
My poly diff mounts disintegrated within a year.
An e-mail to Chesapeake Nissan, a PayPall transfer and one week later I have my new original bushes ready to go in..
Superb stuff.

I could at long last take my car off the road for a while. Until now she was a daily.
Mods galore in stock for her, fitting the new radiator after the Mishimoto core disintegrated.
Literately so. To fit the rad I needed to modify a lot of frontal steel , also to clean up the airflow in the front behind the bumper for some streamlined airflow. Lots of gubbins an stuff in the form of brackets, hooters, wide metal members and stuff. It all adds up to inhibit proper flow to cool everything.
The chassis legs right at the front need to be sliced and diced by 25mm per side for the radiator, the lower cross member needs to be dropped by 30 mm and the intercooler needs proper mounting. Was always attached with pop riveted plates which don't last.
Im doing a frame that will hold the different components properly. The coolers will also get guides to direct the cooling medium to the proper areas.
Oil coolers will drop down and to the left and right of the inter cooler and radiator.
While its off the road, my brake conversion will also finally go on.
Updates to follow.
Will also set up the trigger for the ViPEC management system while its all open up front.
Oh, and a damn good clean up and paint. That is concrete/cement from the Rock Raceway..
Want to swap Neptune ??

Caliper adapters are being made.
Cut the last of the chassis and made space for the frame.
Pulled the crank pulley off for a 60-2 trigger wheel and pickup.
Removed the covers to do the timing belt and seals.
Found the belt very loose and also not on the mark on the intake cam.
While I'm here, new crank seal, tensioners and water pump even though everything seems to be in good shape.

Awesome stuff mr henning
Glad you decided to pull her off the road to do some upgrade surgery
Those discs look awesome that's what I'm after
Don't like those micro cracks on the timing belt toss a greddy in and be done with it
Does the vipec run 60-2?
Keep up the good work buddy

Barry just for interest sake, the marks on the timing belt will only line up with the marks on all the gears with installation. If you line it ip 100% and turn the engine any amount of rotations they will not line up perfectly again.

Cheers bud, what a surprise !!
Pulled the tensioners off yesterday and sat down before phoning my mate Mike at Clearwater Nissan.
Yup, he has for the RB20 which is the same but they cost R894.27 each. Ha ! Yea, not for me thanks.
Took them home last night and stripped them totally. Very easy and rather simple to re build with new bearings.
I thought at worst I may have to machine inserts so a bigger I.D. bearing could be used but no, no such effort needed.
The one tensioner uses a single deep groove ball bearing and the other uses smaller but similar deep groove bearings. This one uses two though.
Today I will buy three bearings, assemble everything and Bob`s your Uncle ,Fanny`s your Aunt and Pussy`s the big black cat.
Two rebuilt tensioners for under R150.00.
Pics to follow due to Photobucket maintenance this morning.
Pics .
AND THE FINISHED "NEW" TENSIONERS.
So, the bearings cost me R220.00. TWO new tensioners for R220.00 and a bit of effort ( 1 Hour) is not bad imo..
