dude - i dont think calibrator meant that 95 causes more detonation?
as far as i understand, a higher ron value on petrol means that it is less prone to detonation!

hmmm I dunno dude, maybe i misunderstood him? I think its the combo of no intercooler + 95 that'll cause it??

as vlade said - i think he meant it isn't an option its a must.
if you run 93 and no cooler, its worse than running 95 and no cooler.
why do you think guys who choon for high boost, do it with racing juice??? racing fuel is 102.9 octane - far less prone to detonate than 95 (pumpjuice)!

Ja that definatley makes sense hey. But I thought he maybe said that cause my car wasn't running properly on 95 and he reckoned it was cause of no intercooler + 95. But ja you're probably right. at any rate I'm getting the intercooler fitted tommorow so I'll see what 95 does!

Gone are the days of us DBN guys getting 97 octane

, not that 2 octane points would make much difference

We only used to get 97 leaded and when they took away leaded and gave us LRP we lost the 97 aswell.

@VeeCee.
Wot you say is right, however the cooler definatley causes lag, that is very noticable.
i spoke to Chemcool who used to run the stock cooler & who now runs it without a cooler.
& if I remember correctly, (let me know if I'm wrong Chemcool) he said that there is ALMOST no lag.
Turbo spools up much faster.

it does cause lag because the air on the cold side of the cooler takes up less space, and therefore takes longer to fill a space of the same size.
but it is not that hectic, unless you are running a very efficient cooler, against a very big turbo - this is based on what i've read!!!
remember, i've mentioned about my butt dyno needing some fine tuning!
