C...it all depends on how serious you want to be. Just to play around or to compete against the big guys.
I would suggest to get an SX. Skyline(r32 and up).
There are bargains out there you just have to wait..
Start off with the stock car, and start buying the suspension first. Then tackle the motor...

16% is a bit rough... Must be your first time loan. I am paying 4.5% on most of my cars..
Just save, it's the best way. Cash is king!

And remember, you need a sponsor, cause if you are going into drifting full force and take part in all the events you will need an average of R20k a month...
Think of that

I wont go into drifting full force this year.
I cant really save, will take me 30 months to have enough just to get the car.
Would like to pick up that bargain in PTA and maybe the half cut, see now it comes with engine.
So all I need extra is suspention.
Will 1st learn how to drift and when I good enough I will go big.
Sad story of my life...*sigh*

Your best bet bud is to buy something cheap, learn to drift and have fun. Then develop your car to your driving style.
20k on a cheapy and some extra, say 5k, for fixing and some wheels and you can start right away. Have fun, learn and develop. Drifting is a lifestyle...have fun and develop yourself and your car.
Notice how many times I said have fun...

C: Ok, sounds fair, maybe try and get a small sponsor first?
As dj said, fun is important. I still only do it for fun, when you get to serious the fun goes out the window, and that's no fun. Also used fun alot

If you dont do well and you had fun it does not matter how far you go.
Tyres are the biggest issue when you get good. In the beginning it's a set per oracular. But later a set every 10 minutes... Sucks!!!
Maybe get an e30 biz shape to start...
