RB26DETT into S14

I used a body shell from a rolled S14 as a jig to make the engine mountings, that way I dont scratch the newly painted car. I also had a spare crossmember from a S13 wich I used.

I tried to keep the engine as close to the crossmember as possable, because of clearance under the bonnet. I basically let the engine ly on the crossmember to make the mountings, I will then use spacers under the mounting rubber to get clearance over the crossmember.

Used 70x6 flatbar. Drilled two holes in each plate to bolt it onto the crossmember.


Had to bolt the gearbox in place to line everything up. note the front hole does not like up with the gearbox crossmember.

Then I cut two pieces that bolt to the front of the crossmember. Drilled a hole through the crossmember to bolt it to.


Welded some braces in to support the mountings.


Here the view after I bolted everyting together, and added 5mm spacers to get the clearance over the steering rack. The right mounting had to be dropped by about 10mm to get the sump level with the crossmember. I also used the lowest polyurethane mounting rubbers that I could find.

This gave a small clearance over the steering rack and crossmember. As low as possable without touching.



Then I cut two pieces that bolt to the front of the crossmember. Drilled a hole through the crossmember to bolt it to.

Fitted the engine and gearbox, was actually easy from the bottom and no scratches. If I can give anyone advice, if you fit a big engine like this with the gearbox attached, its much easier from the bottom than from the top. You can also tighten all the mounting bolts on the crossmember with the engine outside.

Looks good with the big engine in the small car.

Now I have to build the intercooler pipes, for that I will use 76mm stainless pipe.

The propshaft has to be shortened a bit and the larger yoke fitted.

Yes, I will fit a bigger radiator, but for now I will just use the std radiator to get the engine started and mapped. I have a similar size radiator in the skyline and under normal conditions there is no problem, but I think on a track day or realy hard driving a bigger radiator would be needed.
RBSX, yes I still have the hubs, not sure if I am going to use them. U interested? The ABS unit I removed, to make a bit more space, dont think it was nessesary. Will just make up new brake lines without ABS. Saved a bit of weight.
