suspect the crank sensor-will try to find one tomorrow.
Ye I it was touch and go but at the end 4 S13's and my S14 made it all the way to the Rock Raceway, in my opinion the most exciting development in motor sport to look forward to in 2008. When we arrived 2 Skylines were already there! We were then treated to a demo of one of the Skylines on the track and there was no holding back with tires screeching for most of the time, hopefully between all of us present there's some video footage of this, *ahem* Nat, hint, hint..

My pics suck, to capture the moment I felt like I needed Imax gear, but I'll put some up. Also you we need some practicing/effort on the drive-by photo's and co-ordinated parking formations. Basically you guys were going too fast & I didn't use the tripod, my bad.

Also although I trust you guys not run me over I was feeling very nervous squatting right on the track and all I could see and hear is a queue of sx's and dump valve's..but I think we need to go there again very soon and spend more time outside taking photo's and driving/practicing. I mean even if our whole club doesn't drift I'm sure we can still have an MPH style entrance :))

Just before leaving I took a few laps around the oval and all I can say is there's a lot of g's and adrenaline to be had!!! I had a few slow laps trying to get my oil a bit more warmed up then my only spectator urged me to go a bit faster, so I did the right thing, stopped completely, I turned down the window & asked politely if I could launch on the brand new track and after getting an enthusiastic reply I proceeded to flip the high-boost and launch control switches before launching with tyres screaming and the zorst howling!

There's a lot of grip, more than what is at tarlton unprepared and it's round, with semi-nascar like banking turns!!! :)) The track is so consistent and perfect with a small amount of built-in camber so that you can feel really confident pushing you and your car's limits. [My butt g-force meter was off the charts!]

Toby is not mentioning it so I don't know if I should but basically it seems like this place is perfect for us to use as a regular meeting venue. For one the arena is going to be used for oval/gymkhana/drifting, a drag strip is being built right behind it and they already have a sports bar with a pool table and other stuff planned. It's run by enthusiasts with previous experience running this kind of thing and it shows!!!!

I can't wait until the timing equipment is hooked up. I reckon we should have a ladder for each type of event at this track. Time to put up or shuttup! :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

can i say it, huh, can i? can i????

the first time i saw i was also so keen, but we've been waiting so long for good enough weather so that they can lay the tar down...

now that the track is driveable, i am so damn keen again.

and now for the news... i heard of toby talking about something happening on the afternoon of the 27th???

if it is happening, who's all going??? i'll definitely be there burning up a set of rears or perhaps two. if i can get my steering aligned again before then!

@qewrty - nice writeup! Thanks!

Yep, I fully agree that the Rock seems to be a likely home for the 200SX club. They invited us to use their facilities, and even their club house for our meetings, etc.! I'm very excited indeed and I hope this venue will do as well as they are hoping. From Pretoria, if you take R21, distance-wise it shouldn't be too much more than Wesbank was. With the added bonus that there's plenty of stuff around so if you want to spend a day in the area, you can go to Carnival Mall for lunch, etc. (Unlike Wesbank where ChemCool and I had quite an adventure trying to get lunch!)

I've sent out an e-mail to all the members regarding the drift practise. I hope we'll have lots of spectators from our club there too. They did mention that the track is available 27th, 29th, and 30th. I would think it's also available in January. So lots of opportunity to get some practise in!
