For self diagnostics you need to choose mode 3. So, after it has flashed 3 times turn the screw fully anti-clockwise.

Now, it will flash the fault codes. The number of red flashes make up the first digit of the code and the number of green flashes make up the second digit of the code.

When I first looked at mine I couldn't see the green light as it was mostly covered by the edge of the window...

I was getting codes 13 (engine coolant temp sensor) and 34 (Knock sensor).

I rewired the temp sensor because there was a break in the wiring and I've got a new knock sensor from Nissan... R1700 later...
