I was wondering about this as well. I also have forged goodies lying in my garage waiting for me to pull finger and get things done. But if you not going the whole 9 with the head and valvetrain is it nessasary? does it help if you not aiming to rev to 8 or 9k?

Nice build bud! Guys i also have a full ca18det forged rebuild....and all i can say is that it is definitely worth it. My bottom end was pulled from a running and imported motor, in the end it was sent to Fullrace to be balanced.....and its definitely worth it, they actually had to cut quite allot from the crank to got it balanced but its super smooth all they way to 8000k.....If you want to rev pas 8200rpm you need other valve springs as the stock ones startes to float at 8200rpm, i also confirmed this with another guy who currently has a 700whp ca18det....

I will also soon be importing some goodies from frsport so if you guys want valve springs ans let me know. (i got Draco some as well) :D

Keep up the awesome build!!!

A dynamic balanced bottom end is very important, it reduces a lot stresses on the crank.

Completed... Just a few colour changes still to be mad, but other than that I'm extremely happy.

Small update, my brand new OEM cambelt tensioner bearing is buggered, wtf??? Pulled it off fitted old one and we in business again. Suppose even babies get sick hey...

Vacuum in idle is up to 0.36bar which is good, means rings are seating.

Here is oil after 200km of hard break in.

Run it to redline and against compression. Build cylinder pressure to force rings against bore.

Doing leak down test and endoscope photos tomorrow so will see if its working.
