man get one like mine youll never go wrong and they not that mushRiekert wrote:mmm... will take it apart and post pics.Draco wrote:Yes, set the screw, tighten it, it forces the spring down on the shaft making it harder for the vacuum to open it, also oil the shaft now and then...just moisten it with thin oil.
I didn't see that it had a screw like that... so not sure how to adjust it.
Ja, I've also heard that....poizen wrote:i heard the fake hks dump can cause alot of hassels not sure the quality of the one you got but read they jam etc

Nice! missed this the first time round.Highboost wrote:Not all dumpvalves are adjustable.... (with screw)
But all Dumpvalves can be adjusted![]()
Step 1 : unscrew dumpvalve
Step 2 : Remove spring
Step 3 : Insert washer, big enough so spring sits on top of washer.(piston side )
Step 4 : Replace Spring
Step 5 : Screw back together.
Repeat till required tension is reached.
Will try this tonite!

Just a bit more info...... some dump valves are open on idling....... some cars create up to -1bar vacuum, that should open the dumpvalve...... if you rev it up it should close... and then only open again once you leave the throttle again .......i.o.w. from -1bar vacuum it will go closer to 0 when revved, will only go to positive pressure "boost" under load. When it get closer to 0, or into boost it should close , if not try the "shim" washer thing.

mmm... yeah my motor pulls between -.6 and -.8 bar vacuum.
so its closed when you start the car. Then when you rev it once it does the whole leaving it open thing... rev it again closes a little bit. But still lets air escape. so ja... I'm gonna try the washer manoeuvre cause I don't want to buy another one.

If you can open and close it and get to the spring you can do it !!! Someone had to assemble it, so they almost all work that way...I have never come accross one that it cant be done!!
Get to the spring, space it to create higher tesion and BOB's your uncle...
I normally had to do the oppisite, were they were too tight and we had to cut pieces of the spring to lower the tension. If they are too tight you wil hear the AUDI Quaro " tjhi tjhi tjhi and then woosh, that means the tension is too high and the blow off valve opens too late, this defeats the object as the tjhi tjhi tjhi sound is the compressor wheel cutting the air as it stops. You want to release the pressure as soon as the throttlebody close, in order to keep the shaft spinning and ready to boost as soon as you open throttle again....
ITS ALL ABOUT THE FLOW !!! - Think I saw this somewhere

Where the spring is located you should be able to place a few washers and it should press the front closed tightly.
Will take it apart again tonite and take pics.

They have to have either a piston or diaphram (spelling) because vacuum has to move the valve.
The only way of doing this is to have an airtight movable object e.g. piston or diaphram. And because of the heat the use of the latter would not be recommended.
Hope you find a Spring of some kind, cause then you can fix it, if not post pics and we can see what else could be done...

It has a spring.. that pushes a piston with some kid of diaphragm down... so yeah it has a spring we can work with.Highboost wrote:They have to have either a piston or diaphram (spelling) because vacuum has to move the valve.
