It was fine on the way to my destination, lekker boosting. Left there when I was done, much later, drove fine and when I finally decided to floor it after a while I felt fokkol turbo. I was thinking, for fark sakes what's broken now. I'm glad it was just the pipe.

hey vlade,
nice work there mate!
hope it all goes well this time.
i also pulled CA18det this weekend. twice!!! LOL - i mean that i removed two CA's and gearboxes (also spilt oil, cos i couldnt get a drain plug out!!!) from two sx's this weekend, and rebuilt my mates beetle's brakes. its been a busy weekend.
now to some parts/systems (PS, alternator, injectors, belts, turbos, etc) transplants, and then on the 27th it can all go back in!!!
so sorry broo, cant join the spanner'n'braai!!! would've enjoyed it though!!!

Hah cool busy CA weekend it seemed
Any way, achieved my goals that I had yesterday. Motor stripped... This is what I found.
some glazing that occurring, 1st sign of worn rings
this time i'm changing this bugger, PS any one got a oil pickup for me?
motor shots
Parts all over, not my cleanest work, but I'll worry about that when putting it back together
can clearly see the glazing happing here
Block went to engineers this morning, I'll probably get the verdict by the afternoon, know if I should rebore or it can just be honed.
Question:
Don't know if anyone will be able to help me with this, on ARP studs you get a lube with it that you apply to the threads, I don't have any of that lube lying around, what else can I use?
Update: from my interweb research tool ie. Google.
Torque 25ft/lb, 50ft/lb, 80ft/lb. using a 30w oil, the torque increases when you don't use Moly Lube that ARP Supplies... Since it a 30w oil has more friction coefficient than the moly lube that comes with the studs.... Interesting... Even more interesting apply at least 5 fasting and loosening before applying final torque. That from ARP's site.

Shell Mineral oil.... (yellow bottle) think it glazed because of the richness... I've had a motor glaze like that before but it was because i ran it under constant load to Bloem (my 1st try, was rather dumb)

Here I already removed the engine, and before that it stood for 2 weeks... So that the reason it dry, don't worry it was soaked before that

Sorry for maybe sounding a bit dumb, but too much fuel will wash the oil from the cylinders, causing massive wear. This is not apparent from the honing marks.
You either have a combination of warn valve guides or valve stem seals, or your compression rings are upside down. Looking at the combustion chambers and the top of the pistons, that thing pumped oil up, not down. Maybe it is just 1 of the 2 rings that are upside down. Can you perhaps post a close up of on if the pistons where the rings are pulled out of the grooves?
ps. I've donned my flame proof undies
