VC read point 7,
• A letter of authority (LOA) as issued by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS).
They dont give these out, I already tried to bring a car in.

To be quite honest I'm leaning more towards the S13 as it's alot more affordable for me at this point in time.

I can be debt free in 3 to 4 months.
My insurance was R566 for my 1993 S13.
They told me a 1996 S14 would be about R1100.
Hopefully when i turn 25 at the end of this year the insurace goes down like its suppose to. ..l.

Oh well. All i can do is read up on both cars and see how much better the S14 is and if its worth the extra $$$$$$

NO BANKS involved ..l.

But then i need to pay my dad back. Thats all.

So if i get S13 it will take me 3 to 4 months to pay him back.
If i get the S14 it will take 12 months to pay him back.

Maybe i will mod more.
Maybe sell as is for something else in 2+ years.
Maybe pack my bags and use my EU passport.

.
dude, its easy, buy the s14, go work in europe for 6 months to 2yrs and IF you come back at least you'll have some # for crazy mods.

oh and to be safe leave the car with me while you're gone. ;)

I need a few days to think about it.
I can see this will take for ever to choose.

U know what. Screw it! Let me just fly to Joberg and drive both and see what my heart chooses.

I see Dislex666 red one in his signiture and it looks really nice from the side.
It's that back bumper that puts me off. I'm gonna have people crash into me cause its sooo ugly. HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Not really. Well besides the wasteing money on tickets going there and back.

If i wait another month or 2 after that i will have even more cash.
I will have gone insane due to not having a nice car but thats ok.

Where is Dislex666 anyway.
He has S14. I want his view on owning an S14.
Oh and other S14 owners are welcome too.

Dislex666 just broke his gearbox. So maybe his opinion might be a bit tainted. I'm thinking you should test drive both.

I really like the look of the S13, there's nothing wrong with owning a S13, but because it's cheaper up front there are disadvantages, like the age means there is basically 5 years more worth of strain on everything, including the motor/gearbox/diff/prop/suspension/turbo/etc.

s13

Post by mickey »

hey gary

i know that ferroli down here in cape town is selling an s13 with 106000 miles for around the R42k mark, but maybe is negotiable as are all people if they want to sell something badly enough, so give him a buzz. 0219306511, dont know which ferroli it is, but ask for rob, i think that there are only two.

as for the rocking horse shit your mate is looking for, good luck.
I think animal testing is a terrible idea - they get all nervous and give the wrong answers!

owning an s14

Post by mickey »

howzit phobos, welcome

i have an s14, it is @#$%^& awesome fun, but dont break anything. i just chipped a valve, cost me R240 for the spare part and almost R5000 to get it put in with all the gaskets and labour. then i couldnt help myself and had a fmic which with hoses and all cost another R4500. oh and dont chat to rezlo, coz you too will end up with all sorts of expensive bits, like a greddy electronic boost controller (dont ask ian, havent tried it yet, still getting car out of hospital). i have d2 coil overs which make the car handle like a go kart, but very uncomfortable to drive on the roads if used daily. oh, and get the large capacity sump if you wanna play, coz you will hurt the car otherwise. ummm, yeah, given the choice between s13 and s14 there is no choice (sorry all you s13 owners). hehehe

I have a S14 and my gilfreind owns the MR2 (sw20) Mk2
I love my SX but the MR2 is fantastic to drive and the parts are about
half the price. we bought the car (R60-000) N/A (3SGE) and the engine broke after 2weeks
then installed a 3SGTE turbo from Celica GT4.
Tein Super Street suspension and about (30-000) later she has a car that
straps most cars on the road for +-R90-000 not bad hay.

Point being S14 costs me 3times more with everything and wouldn't change it for the world. well mybe just an S15...

Well thats not the first time i heard Toyota parts are cheaper than Nissan.

Maybe if engine breaks it would be cheaper to put 2JZ-GTE. hehehehehe

Probably not. But wishfull thinking.

I seen some crazy Supras in the States. In mags and on the net.

Back to the subject at hand.
Well if Dislex666 bust his gearbox the same thing could happen to an S13 too.
Would an S14 gearbox cost more to fix than S13.

It will mainly come down to wich cost more to look after when things do break. Being a 10+ year old car things will break.
