Again , I wasn't saying anything against Rezlo , I have bought from him before as well and will probably buy again, I was using them as a reference to point out that these cars are our hobbies and that we allways have to fork out a fortune to maintain or modify them. I have nothing against Rezlo or their business practices , it was just a reference point for the cost of specific said CP pistons !

I am just frustrated at having to battle whenever I want to buy parts and then that there are so many different parts and opinions available. So when I have to rely on the word of someone on Ebay , I get a bit nervous!

just want to show you guys a little caculation and then every one can decide for themselfs: Lets do a little exercise, average price of CP’s on fleabay $550 (they range from $520-590) X7 to get to R, +14% tax+20%duty +MINIMUM $60 shipping and yopu end up with R5686.00 and then the guarantee.

Andrew if want to buy injectors for your sr rather go for 740 or 750 they are about the same price and will just give you that little bit more for the feature.

I was also thinking that if I am going to have to import and wait , then I might as well go with something a bit bigger.

I haven't imported engine components before , but what I have imported , I have never had to pay any duties. I have only paid for the product and the shipping. Obviously if I had to import a couple of boxes of parts then I am sure that I would get nailed.

I do however have family all over the world , and I have been told that if the item is marked as a gift then their aren't any duties. I will find out soon enough whether that is true or not !

if anything tell them to be honest with the package

sars hold untrue items

like if you have all that set up worth 4k in there and they mark it as a value of 1k and there a clever car guy that knows prices

will stop your order make you show a reciept on the value and if it wrong you will be nailed by import

honesty is the best policy

I agree. I wouldn't ask the guys to mark it as a gift anyway. It is a different story if 1 of my family actually purchased it on my behalf and sent it to me. I was just mentioning that I had been told that if it is marked as a gift that it would be easier. I will just order and take it as it comes !

I once brought in a order of suspension bushes - order total was worth about R7k, import duty was almost R1k... 20percent duty on suspension components.

yeah mate, you're the clever one eh? :) guess the local importers dont put markups on their stuff out of the goodness of their heart eh?

to all the rest of you with brains, do your research online and local before you buy..

maybe because importers spend a little more than what we do and get a better price than what we will ever get on fleabay, just a thought

yeah and maybe they dont put a markup on their stuff :)

alright , lets put this to bed.. obviously some items can be had from local importers at about the same price as you can import yourself, due to bulk discounts ect.

the point i wanted to make is that this is by no means true of ALL items, which is why peeps should be informed that it pays to look around. surely you are not against people saving money , no matter what tuner you support?

also remember fleabay is by far not the only online retailer out there.

ok this was my last word on this subject....
