Just a little bit of input from me on the cheap drift car front (I specialised in this for a while before the S14

)
E30 325
E36 325
Ford Escort MK1/MK2 1.6 +
Cheap banged up S13 (rare but they come along)
Sierra 3 litre+
There are plenty cars cheaper than a R30 that are more than capable, all you need is RWD and a good power to weight ratio. Look through gumtree, they even let you search for RWD cars.
You can even pick up a shit box E36 325 (Dolphin Shape) for under 30K, weld the diff and stiffen the suspension. I've done this with 3 different ones and they are brilliant cars to start off with!!! You also get coilovers for them here in the UK for like £120, which you can get shipped to SA and it will still be affordable.
What is your budget?
I fully support the sport of drifting (obviously) and my main aim is to show people how affordable drifting can be, so if you want ways to go drifting cheap and to keep it all fun, give me a shout

I do go to the track as ofton as I can (once a month)
Was planing to stop off there today but with this rain I didnt take the chance.
It is a odd 80Km to the track and money is tight at the moment.
If I was paid more I would join them on Wednesdays.

Thanks Guys this post is very interesting and a great help, especially if you want to get more into drifting but want to start looking for a car other than your everyday ride.

I just bought a e30 325 with new suspension, engine rebuild and locked diff for that much, ready to start drifting right away. Just look around and be patient
