It will if you do too long, till you can sort out the stuff, maybe it's best to put the standard air filter and so on back.

at the place where i got the filter and they installed it for me, i watch them.
the basically just switched the two. why?

Did your car have the standard air filter box?

If its just the filter that changed you wont need a lot more.

yep it did. alfy, the guy that had the car before me, put a bmc flat pan filter in and now it has the cone in.

So they did connect the adaptor before the afm?

i say leave the std fpr and just fit a walbro pump. Sorted my problems out when i had a std sx

I agree fully with poizen, manual boost controllers can make your car ping if you dont know what your doing there, or wors still, blow up in ur face. the electronic IS the best.
My friends Opel saw it's gat with a manual. We were playing with a manual tap controller and at first thought it wasn't opening so we opened it to far, then things went a little lob sided with oil all over the floor and plooms of smoke.
Advice, if manual, open click by click and test between clicks, even if it takes all day to get there... Need accurate boost Gauge to do this...
