murphy that fukka!!! he got me too!!
last night decided that i couldn't go to wesbank with a car that wont cooperate, so i was going to "fix" it. so i did...
i checked the TPS first. it was sending the "idle on" signal at its current configuration. so using the multimeter, i repositioned it so that at the idle position of the throttle it sends the "idle on" signal, and at any point above idle - it doesn't. sorted right???... the miss on idle was gone and the responsiveness of the engine was vastly improved - but that was probably because it was now firing on 4 cylinders again!!!
but still it was strange - because it looks like the TPS is set all the way back now!!!
also - i then checked the timing after the car was warmed up. it was way way out - like it was set to 40 degrees advanced or something. before the TPS was changed it looked normal - at about 15 degrees.
so i reset the timing to 15 degrees - and the car is now idling perfectly smooth, and seems to accelerate nicely (although thats under no load) i never managed to go out to check it on the road.
but again - it still strange because the CAS is now set to the full retarded position. how can it be at 15 degrees advanced if the CAS is set to full retard.
my opinion is that the belt cannot be set up correctly - and that i will be taking all the belts and covers off this evening so that i can make 100% sure that the timing marks on the belts and pulleys and everything is 100% perfect. then i will check again.
anyone think of anything else???
