Its a long story, About a damaged CAS that has found a home
Please tell me, I have lots of CAS's laying around and non of them are 1 tooth out, I have stripped loads aswell and there is no way to get them wrong.
Gary, I have a spare CAS with the exact "issue" as PFB's. It was part of the reason why I had such a mission to get my motor running after the rebuild. (Just ask Ashley about the whole afternoon messing with wiring only to discover timing is off the chart)
Anyway - glad you got it sorted. And glad you got a use for the loopy CAS - guess this means I should buy a set of PONcams too
S13 CA18DET, NIStune and...oh wait no that's gone.....

The reason I ask is because I have had 2 cars now that knock badly if I advance the timing to 15degrees on the cranck, no idea why, I have to put timing on like 5 degrees on crank and then they go like kak. Fit management systems and the knock goes away.

this is just a thought, but you did make sure you bought the real deal, you will fall on your back to see what the chinese are making pirate copies of these days.. and a mismatched locating pin is just the sort of shit they are famous for..
Very good point, If so they went to allot of effort. Tomei box', Tomie Instructions, Tomei warranty, stickers plus Tomei markings on the cam's and the invoice from Tomei Japan

Damn why can’t you leave it alone now I have to write out the story. As you know the CAS has a locking pin that holds the spline housing to the shaft on my original item the pin came lose and started to wear into the shaft so when I found out I took the pin out and had the item Heli-coiled to lock it again but the wear was quiet bad and the CAS was about ¾ a tooth advanced but still set to 15 degrees so when I go the spare motor about 3 years ago I used its CAS and put this messed up one away for spares

That sounds like cam timing to be honest, Even with the loopy CAS the car never knocked, Plus your doing timing with the light so even if the caps is upside down as long as you get the base the management will handle the rest

Nope Cam timing is 100%, the cars were both drive perfectly fine and then they bring them in one day with this knocking noise... Knock sensor??
